Default A first for me...

In my local game (the friendly one where I have made a fortune one $30 buy in at a time) tonight, this is what happend on the very first hand:

I get dealt KK in the BB (50/100 - we started with 4000 chips).
3 limpers including the SB, I raise to 700.
2 callers.
Flop comes QQ8.
I bet 800, figuring I'm going to take the pot down right here.
First guy raises to 1600 (the only thing this tells me is he does NOT have a Q. Maybe he's got A8 or TJ or whatever).
Everyone else folds.
I push in, confident I have the best hand.
He thinks for a second, making me even more sure I have the best hand, and then calls.
He turns over KQ.
3 on the turn, 3 on the river, and that's the end of me.

Gotta love it. KK losing to KQ on the very first hand. That is the first time ever I have been knocked out on the first hand of a tournament. I've doubled up on the first hand before, but never been knocked out.

Oh well - early night for me

Default Almost Same Hand

The same thing happened in a tourney last night for me...except I had KQ in BB. It was on the third or fourth hand. Raise to 100 pre-flop. I called. Flop was QQ7. I check. Someone bets 100, I raise to 400. Guy goes all-in. I call. Turn and river are crap. He has pocket Kings. I win...but even with my nearly 2-1 chip lead, I still finish 7th. That is hard to accomplish.
