That is funny, but on a serious note, I'm glad they did something positive with the "misprinted" gear.

6 years ago, my wife ran a Tommy Hilfiger store in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida. Every once in a while, they would get some merchandise that couldn't be sold (i.e. small stain, small snag, maybe a logo was crooked). The "flaws" in the garments were minimal.

They were required by the store to take the clothing and cut it into pieces with scissors before they threw it out in the dumpster so that bums or other dumpster divers couldn't get their hands on it. They could've donated it, or just tossed it out and known someone could've got use out of it. Instead, they took the time to destroy it. Kinda sick.
