Blogger Tourney
The Blogger tourney went very well. I beleive we had 211+ people and the prize pool was sweet! I ended up going out a piddle 52nd place shortly after the bad beat I got, which as TP points out, was incredible lucky flop followed by an incredible unlucky turn and river. In case you did not read it I had AQ, all, vs AK and 88. The flop comes QQx, turn K, River, you guessed it, K! Arg Charlie Brown!
I do have to say this took the heart of the game out of me. I was really broken. I mean I went from ellation and 10K, and probably a top 10 finish, to 1K and utter dejected dispair. I ended up going all in with Q-10 later on and losing vs KQ. No Runner-Runner 10's for me. I think my real defeat was the previous hand. The blinds were something like 100/200 or more, so I did have to make a move somewhere. Just chose the wrong place. Oh well. I did better than alot of people who I respect alot like Bad Blood and Aeq. I think I saw a few more people from the forum there too. Hopefully I can recoup my loses by winning my Eagles bet with TP. |

Great Tourney
I didn't get there in time to play but did watch for a while. Sorry to say I witnessed that hand.
I did see "The Hammer" take out AA and KK in the same hand!

For those who don't know, the blogger tourney was open to all bloggers and blogger readers. The field was shockingly large, and it just goes to show how many bloggers / readers there are out there. Word spread fast.
The decision to play was last minute for me, so w/ 10 minutes left, I had to find the password. I'm not too much of a blogger "reader" so I had to track down the password from Sir. Unlike most NL tournaments, this was EXTREMELY tight. Usually, after the first 15 minutes, it's not out of the ordinary to see over 20-30 people eliminated. Not so last night! I think we were 1/2 hr into the tournament, and only 6-7 people were out! I told Sir over AIM that it was going to be a long one. He was doing better than me in the beginning - he was getting great hands, and some of the were holding up. He took a beat early on, which brought him back to my level, around 1250. I finally had a playable hand, it held up, and I was sitting w/ ~1600. Sir, on the other hand, took off. Before I knew it, he was over 2400. Good for him. I raised all-in w/ the hammer (72o) and the table folded to me. I told you it was tight. I showed, and my table got a kick out of it. After that, it all went downhill. I lost w/ KK against A8. Lucky ass made his A2345 straight, runner runner, of course! I told Sir I had to make some big moves, because w/ the blinds at 50/100, my ~800 stack looked REALLY shitty. I took a shot and went all-in w/ TT, and I think someone cracked me w/ KJo. Oh well. It was a good tournament - a very good mixture of players - and I'm looking forward to the next one.

In my best "Governator voice" from Kindergarten Cop:
"Stop Whining!" You got in with the 3rd best hand. Odds held up. However, if the AK overcalled the two of you, then you can whine a little

But I like it..
I like whining and I am not done yet. I got in with 3rd best hand, flopped the closest thing to the NUTS you ever could. Only two things could beat me: KK and 88. AA would tie. J-10 would also beat me I guess. And somehow two kings waltz in. Oh well. I am starting to get over it.

yeah I played and finished like 100th or some crappy spot... I couldnt get over how tight my table was... I was raising with hands I normally wouldnt and took some blinds but couldnt really get anything going.
one major hand at my table was shortstack 44 who was allin preflop vs QQ vs AA on a Qxx flop... AA ended up losing over half his stack to the QQ. |

Tight.. Tight.. Tight..
I keep hearing people say "The tables were very tight".. is this compared to the normal people you are going against at Party? If so it does not surprise me much. I mean these people read TP type forums, Blogs, sleep, eat, and drink Poker. They are bound to be at least a little better than most of the Party people. Who knows though.

I thought it was pretty tight as well. My take on it is that we had ALOT of readers, and I'm sure they were playing really tight to make a good impression on the bloggers. Just a guess, but that's what my feeling was. On my table, we went seven hands without anything happening. Just folding blinds. Of course, once they got to me noone folded.
