Post your strength.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope that each of you has a happy and safe holiday weekend. We seem to have a relatively new batch of young'ems around here, and as this is a time of reflection and all, I figured it would be a good idea to have a "what is my strongest part of my game" thread. So please post about the one (or two if you are really good, vain, or lonely) aspects of your game that you think is strongest. Explain why you think you excel at this aspect and maybe we all can learn something.
I think the strongest aspect of my game is table selection. The rules of online poker are vastly different than the rules live poker. I usually 4-table but have 16 tables open. Every 5 minutes or so I am checking PAHUD window to see if any of the tables I am datamining are super juicy, and if so, I close the worst (no fish) table I am playing at and move to a more juicy table. As soon as the fish goes broke or leaves he table, I leave the table before I post again. If a seat opens up at a table I am already playing that has better position on the fish, I immediately move to that seat. The fish don't notice or care, if they did they wouldn't be fish. Furthermore, sometimes a particular table will tilt me, I will be running bad or hit a series of badbeats/coolers, and when playing I will hate that table. Most of the time my game at that the other tables is not affected, but whenever I am focusing on that one table I get mad and tilty. I almost always just close that table unless it is a supersoft table, and open a different one. It helps me let go of the frustration at times. Table selection can turn a break even player into a winner. |

survivng the emotional swings that can go with the BR swings. Oh boy, do I want the money, but I am getting very good at not beiong affected emotionally by wild swings in either direction.

Please. My passer rating would have had Tom Brady drooling.
It's hard for me to pick a biggest strength, honestly. I guess I'd have to go with Hand Reading, even though I am sure The Storm is better at it than I am. I think I've got my emotions well under control at the tables too. And my game selection ain't half bad either. Hmmm... who else's can I steal?  Funny, given all that I just wrote, but I think "modesty" is one of my assets too. I KNOW I have a lot to learn and I'm constantly trying to improve. I'm lazy though, so I have work to do in that department too (see - there's the modesty again!). Oh oh oh oh.... forget everything I've written so far and I'll come up with an original answer: Bankroll Management.

Harrington on Hold'em Phil Gordon's Little Green book. hmmmm. These guys are not stupid for publishing these books. This place is like a martial arts dojo; if you strain with those who are better than you, and focus on improving your weaknesses, you get better. It has also been my experience, that as I develop as a player, I often re-evaluated things that I once considered the strong parts of my game.
