Default Cake thoughts.

Okay, I'm am absolutely one of the LAST people to ever seriously suggest that poker is rigged or any such thing but my past couple sessions at Cake have seriously left me scratching my head. And I'll be honest - I've never REALLY paid much attention to this at Stars (where 99% of my play is) so it could be the same but I think I'd have noticed it.

In a session of about 55 hands last night I saw no less than 9 full houses - and that's only hands where there was a showdown. There were other hands where it was quite possible that a boat was made by the river but the player's bet was not called. So I'm not thinking that Cake is "rigged" in favour of one player or another but with the way the cards fall it wouldn't take much to convince me that the cards may be dealt to encourage lots of action. I also saw quite a few flushes and straights. I can't remember seeing a single hand that was won by high card or single pair.

Today I'm going to keep better track of winning hands and see what the results are. Does anyone else think that 9/~55 full houses is odd? I hope it's just variance.

55 hands = nothing.

Get a 55k hand sample and we can run some numbers.

I understand that the sample is extremely small. I've started keeping track and played a 100 hands this morning. Here are the numbers from it:

One Pair 14 Two Pair 17 3 of a Kind 3 Straight 1 Flush 2 Full House 5 Straight Flush 1 Royal Flush
Won w/out Showdown 57 Total Hands 100
I haven't played much at Cake yet but from the way people talk it seems odd that 57 of these were won without showdown. Other than that, this sample SEEMS relatively well distributed, although the FH number still seems a little higher than what the curve should be.

Brag part of post: 2 of the 5 FH were mine, as was the Straight Flush.

Regardless of what my numbers ultimately show, /me loves Cake!
