online SNG's and live play have been going very well for me lately, but my online cash games are really falling apart. I am starting to slip back into my LAG ways and am having a hard time getting away from hands. In a number of situations it is simply lacking the discipline to get away from hands that I know I should.

I think I am going to focus on tournament play for a while (primarily SNG's). I think I will take a look at some cheap satty's for the WCOOP.

Probably just need to step away for a day or 2 and hit the Casino with some "freshness" on the weekend.

anywho, just needed to bitch a little bit.

Are you playing badly or are you running badly? There is a pretty big difference. If you are palying badly, either start playing better or take a break. If you are just running badly, don't be results oriented. Keep playing well and the numbers will come.

You don't post very many (any?) hands for discussion. I'd definitely recommend doing a lot more of that if you want to improve your game. You'll be amazed at how much better you will become, not just from others' responses, but from really thinking the hand through yourself, and then again through others' eyes.

I'll definitely start posting more hands (I will select at least one from tonight's tournament). As for the other part, it's a mix. My play was getting better, then I ran neutral to bad for a few weeks. I let frustration get to me and I started playing worse. One of those things where I can see what I need to do, I just need the trust and patience to do it.

EDIT: the biggest 3 problems that come up are...

1. playing too many hands
2. chasing draws with the wrong price
3. not trusting my "fold" reads

#1 is pretty easy to fix. Just stop doing it.
#2 is extremely easy to do. STOP doing it.
#3 can be tricky, as it's a lot more "feel" and often times it's incorrect to fold, even though you are pretty sure you are beat.

So, work on the first two to start. Mastering preflop play (hand selection) is probably the easiest part about becoming a better player. Post-flop, especially the turn, is a lot more work.
