Default Poker Game this Afternoon. 1-2 players needed.

If anyone is interested there's going to be a small poker game this afternoon.

As far as I know this is a (VERY) small stakes game.
It could be as low as quarters...
I am hoping to bump it up a bit or at least flip it into some small buy-in tourneys.

This would probably be better for those of you who are just learning, as it may not be worth the time of the higher-stakes players.

It'll be around the Dixie and Dundas Area.
Start time is roughly 2pm or 3pm.

PM me if anyone is interested.
If anyone is interested.

Default Question for chip ...

As a successful 5/10 player, do you find it hard to stay engaged at a game for such low stakes? or is this more of a excuse to see friends/drink beer?

Even with my limited 5/10 experience, I'm already finding it is impacting how I think about my 2/4 game. I can win a decent size pot at 2/4 and think, "that's good, but if I was at the other table ..."

not that i am a successful 5/10 player, but i find home games to be a significant amount more fun than any other type of poker. having a couple of beers and playing small stakes games with my friends is a great way to have fun, learn a little more about the game, and not really have to worry about all of the details that make or break you as a player.

the key is just approaching it like recreation, not as a place to win money, although that always makes the experience a bit better.

I went in there last night just expecting to get hammered and win or lose a couple bucks.

There was only 5 guys including myself, so we ended up playing a couple of $20 tournaments and a $40 tournament.

Let's just say that I was a tad hung-over this morning, and my wallet was a tad fuller. I've never seen so many people play "EVERY" hand.
I tried to explain why their pocket 3's were not such a good hand when there were 3 others seeing the flop with a board of A-K-J.
They just wouldn't listen, so I stopped explaining.

I won 1st, 1st, 3rd- nut flush lost to full house on river.(So I guess holding his pair of 7s was a good idea then . Then I came in first in the $40 tourney.

It was kind of fun, and kind of not fun....

I would definitely not put myself in the category of a successful 5/10 player.
So far I'm up, but like I said... I'm just dipping my toe in for now.
Yes.... Yes I did.

After I saw the caliber of play it definitely became a beer night!

Staying interested playing $1/2 is a battle in and of itself...actually it's fun to see if I'm going to get beat by runner-runner straights, flushes, or boats! From the perspective of obviously expierenced limit players, what would you consider a safer bet for myself: Playing $1/2 limit at a full table or 6-handed? So far, I've had success at both and finally go to bed feeling like a winning player. I have only been playing for a little while but I'm up $200 so far. Unfortuanetly $150 went into Aussie Million Qualifiers in which my KK was cracked by AK, my AK cracked by A9, and I could have tripled up and been playing 3-handed with the chip lead if my wired 6's held up against 4 overcards from 2 other's all-in's.
