KEM vs. Copag
Thoughts? Preferences?

I LOVE my Copags. I have several setups, including a 4 color setup, that seems to scare everyone. I just wish I still had the chance to use them like I used to.
Some have stated that Kems are better, but even they admit the difference is marginal at best. I think they just say they like them more because they are considered the *best* in the industry. But at half the price, Copags are the way to go. IMO, get the large index Copags (and poker size of course, not bridge size; that measly quarter inch makes a big difference). The small index cards make it a little tougher to squeeze your two hole cards. Meaning, the suits are smaller and lower on the card, so you have to expose more of the card to see what the suit is. |

Just did some searching. Found the four color ones. Might have to order me a couple of those decks.
When you said four color I was hoping for something like the four color cards that Stars use in the hypersimple theme with the colored background. I would give my left arm for a couple sets of those. |

Like the attached image - where the backgrounds of the cards are the color while the suit and card number is in white...

Ahem.
Brilliant responses, really. I love 'em all. Meanwhile, I was also just wondering if anyone -- besides Drewjax -- had a preference between KEMs and Copags. Reason being, I just bought a set of Copags. It looks like I overpaid for them, but I really don't mind. I had just heard some good things about them and saw them in a gaming store, so it was an impulse purchase. I also know a while back TP started a thread praising the quality of KEMs, too. For the record, I love these cards. (I got the basic bridge-sized ones.) I'll probably also get a set of wide cards and a four-color deck in the future.

What's your plan to shuffle the cards with one hand/arm?

Played with both, and they are both top of the line. A noticable difference compared to a set of Bee or Hoyle cards, for sure. How they stack up against each other? As someone mentioned, the difference is marginal at best.
Save money, it's the same product.

hmm...good point. the shuffle part is easy - card shuffler. The dealing. Well...it could be done, just REALLY slow. I think that others would quickly volunteer to deal in my place

I don't think you really notice a difference between either one. However, I have noticed that the poker buddy that bought a new set of KEM cards has already chipped two cards (one from each deck). So, that kinda blows. He's only had them for a few months.
He seems to be leaning towards Copag in the future. I, too, would love to have a four color deck with the backgrounds as the color and white lettering.
