I don't know if he'll directly make any difference in the near future, but just him taking this role has gotten the PPA in the news.
My God, imagine the buzz that would be generated if eejit ever joined!!! Seriously though, this is a good thing: I like this guy: |

Google Ron Paul, he's OK too.

Crap re: D'Amato on ESPN
Check out this Yahoo:
The writer's an idiot, but I see something odd. He says the PPA claims 160,000 members. I joined last month. My card says I'm member #35,103. Does that mean 125,000 more have signed up after me? Does anybody believe it?

I don't know what the deal with your card is, but they claimed > 100,000 a long time ago. When I joined, I don't think I got a card with a number on it, so who knows when they atarted the card numbering process.

This is a link to the comments on the article. They're golden. Of the 74 I read, 73 basically called the guy a schlep (including one guy named Negreanu) and one said it was "well written." For the record, it was, without a doubt, one of the biggest pieces of shit to ever grace ESPN.com. I've always believed SI.com had better, more informed writers, and now I have proof.

A lot of people in the sports world are knee-jerk anti-gambling, ignoring the simple truth that the NFL is the powerhouse it is today in part BECAUSE of illegal gambling, not in spite of it.

It seriously is one of the worst written articles I've ever seen. That is just terrible journalism, isn't it? i wonder how he feels, as an author, when pretty much 100% of the comments he get are calling him an idiot.
I'm glad I read the NY Times piece... |
