Default Playing at a new site

Does anyone else find it difficult adjusting to a new site? It seems to take me a while before I can get adjusted at a new site...does anyone else have a similar problem?

Only PokerRoom. All the graphics and the fact that the avatars stay the same as people come and go really gave me a hard time when I first started there. I also think it was/is more of an issue because the colors of the backgrounds, "name boxes", and text are all similar, so if the avatar doesn't change and the text saying its a different person doesn't jump out at you, you are playing someone else on your previous read of another player. Never a good idea.

Just takes some getting used to. Maybe i'll get some sticky notes out and write names on them

What site are you asking about? Do you have issues with one?

Default Start small

I'll always play at least one rotation at the lowest possible limit just to get a handle on the interface. Agree that with the exception of Pokerroom, everything seems to be pretty standardized these days.

I never had a problem adjusting.
There were always a few minor issues, like for example, I hate how your chat blocks your cards on Absolut, and it took me a little to figure out all the setup options at UB (i.e. fancy, unnecessary stuff like backgrounds etc), but as far as gameplay goes, its not like you need a rocket scientist to figure out how to work the software.

I have trouble adjusting, as well. Just joined Bodog yesterday. Going slow at first.

Default getting accustomed to new sites

I find the easiest way for me to get used to new sites is to work my way up all of them. On sites I have been playin on a while I only play 2/4 or 100nl tables for the most part. But whenever I join a new site, I make it a point to play 1000 hands at every level from .05/.10 up to 2/4 or 3/6. It just helps me get a feel for the site, the players, the game pace, and generally when I get upto the higher amounts, my money is long gone and I am playing on theres for the duration.

I also have been known to flunk myself down a step if my stats for the 1000 hands are not where I feel they need to be. Even if I have turned a steady profit, if there is a hole in my game it needs to be plugged period.

Poker is a game of self discipline.

that seems to be a pretty tough way to go about online play. i understand the need to get a feel for the site and the players there, but is it really worth your time to play 1k hands at every level up to 3/6? that seems like overkill to me, but i guess it works for you.

I would definitely start at the bottom level until you feel like you are comfortable with the software, the buttons and have a feel for the deal, and how folks there play. It's a lot better to be patient and move up too slowly than the alternative.

if you play the tables a lot - colour code the players, this might help you as if the player is coded one minute and then not coded the next theyve obviously changed

they also let you add notes

I don't know, I'll see if I can make adjustments to my game. The play on these tables are lot harder than on say pacific poker. We'll see what happens, I just want to clear the bonus...better not bust out before then ><

Changed my game, doing a lot better tonight. Won back half my losses from yesterday, but can't really complain. I guess last night I was just paying for tuition.
