Default National HU Championship

Looks like NBC is running its own freeroll for a lucky amateur to get into this.

Hell, the site's worth it just to see Shana.

The real competition runs from Jan 6 to Feb 10, but you can practice at their tables now. Boring day at work, so I get a login and play one match. I start out a bit timid, get down to 660 (1000 starting stacks), then change gears and slaughter the guy.

I say that to have a bit of fun with this we should get some type of competition going with it. Here an idea i have in mind if we can get enough people,

1.) Charge an amount for each player to enter. ($1-$5 would work fine). All money would be transfered to TP or any other trusting member via pokerstars to be held until the competition is over.
2.) Randomly assign each person in the drawing a player in the tournament (or 2 depending on the number of people we get to enter).
3.) Pay out prizes for whoever's player gets 1st or 2nd in the HU tournament

Another way we could do it would be to do it in a NCAA bracket type of way, when the brackets are actually realeased we could each fill them out and submit them to TP, or again whoever is holding the money and pay out according to 1st 2nd and 3rd.

Again, i know there would need to be a lot of tweeking and adjusting but i would like to do something like this this year. I tried to do something with my friends last year but there wasnt enough intrest, let me know what you guys think.

I completely misread the post... here was my first response:

My new and improved response is:

Yeah, that sounds cool. I'd vote for the bracket style, for sure.

Simple answer is just a list of who you think will win each round.

Example---

round one : 32 winners picked
round 2: 16 winnerds picked
etc etc

We did this for the TPF HU Matches last time and it worked pretty well.

Yep, are they going to release the brackets before the events actually take place? They obviously need to be released with enough time in between to get eveyones picks before the matches start (real time matches, not TV)

From the site:
The first round is seeded randomly during a live Pairings Party held the night before the tournament begins. Players are divided into four brackets – Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, and Spades – and advance by winning a heads-up match against their randomly drawn opponent. The structure of the brackets then determines every match thereafter. The semifinals are comprised of one player from each bracket, with the winner of the Spades bracket playing the winner of the Clubs bracket, and the winner of the Hearts bracket matched up against the winner of the Diamonds bracket. A best-of-three-hands final match then determines which of the two finalists is crowned champion.

that would require a 24 hour (max) turnaround on the picks (assuming they post them right away).

On a positive note, we have till 4/7/07 to figure this out.

Yeah, I don't see how that would be possible. That's how they've done it the past two years too... We could do a random draw to see who each person gets, but brackets would be almost impossible. You say 24 hours, but it's actually a lot less than that.

As for how to submit brackets, pdf??? Yuck. Excel works great, but people just typing in their picks worked fine too (I cleaned them up for everyone).
