I play NL.

When I move up, it's more than just getting a large enough broll...

Usually it's a combination of playing a lot of hands at my current limit (at least 20k), with a nice winrate, and finally having a large enough roll.

Then, after I've done all that, I'll do a temporary move to 'test the waters'. If I get owned or suffer some serious bad beats, I'll move back down to rebuild my ego. Then try it again after that. If after a few times you start to feel really comfortable at the higher limit, make a more long term move unless you lose like 12 buyins, then move back down to rebuild.

It's especially important to move back down if you don't intend on redepositing with other funds, because if your bust your roll and have to start from scratch... it's no picnic .
