Thanks for clearin that up. I thought trips was any 3 of a kind, my brother disagreed. I hate to say it...but he was right.

I agree with the responses so far.
But I will add that if someone called a set trips, it doesn't bother me NEARLY as much as when someone calls trips a set. In other words, even though I believe them to be two different things, I am ok with people who believe that all sets are trips, but not all trips are sets. These people are saying trips, but they really mean........ "three of a kind." Set AND trips are both "three of a kind." I guess what it comes down to is that I am ok with people using the terms "three of a kind" and "trips" interchangeably (even though I do not). But it drives me crazy when people add "set" to that mix, because a set is special - 2 in your hand and one on the board. |
