Default Strategy question for 1 rebuy tourneys

Has anyone ever played in the Rebuy Tourneys where you only get ONE rebuy, plus the add on? I have messed around with a couple for fun. My initial thought was to do the rebuy right away (they let you do that) and then just do the add-on like you normally would. But, what i noticed is that people were still accumulating a lot of chips like a normal rebuy tourney by playing super-aggressive.

So, i was wondering. Would it be better to not take the rebuy right away. Instead, play with your initial stack like you would in a rebuy - trying to double up a couple of times. Maybe not quite as wreckless - but super-super-aggressive. If you bust - do the same thing again with your rebuy. If you bust again - you are done.

By taking the rebuy right away and basically having to play straighforward poker, it seems to pretty much guarantee you that the best you can hope for is to be the average stack, or a little lower, once it comes time for the add-ons.
