Default Free Money Psychology

Over the past year or so, there have been two occasions where I've been given free money in my account at sites where I hadn't played in quite some time.

The first occasion was at checknraisepoker, where I turned their free $20 into $300.

The second occasion was at noblepoker where I turned their free $20 into $1000.

Now here comes checknraise again, this time with a free $100. On day 1, I grew it to $320.

All this evidence leads me in two possible directions:

1. The players at these sites are beyond horrible and my chances of winning are relative higher than normal, therefore the results I've seen aren't too surprising.

2. My own mindset when I'm playing with other people's money is different such that I play better than I do under normal circumstances.

I suspect the former is true rather than the latter, but it's still interesting to me because there is a non-zero chance that option 2 is having SOME effect.

In order to cash out that new $100, I'll probably have to play on that site for 25 more hours or so. At that point, I'll post the results of that free money experiment.

In all cases: THANK YOU for the free cash.
