...and you should start feeling better immediately.
That right kids, that there be a out outer. This isn't my worst beat ever, but it's pretty bad, especially if you consider how HORRIBLE of a play he made, calling that HUGE bet drawing to exactly one out. ![]() apologies for posting strategy thoughts. the one-outter sucks, but i'm just a little confused about raising 98o, even OTB, with a limper up front. perhaps i should have replied with an irrelevant allusion to my own bad luck. |

Like I said, if you never raise 98o OTB after an UTG limper, I'm not sure how much more we have to discuss. Cause I do.
Maybe your way is right and mine is wrong or vice versa, but I'm inclined to think either are ok, so long as whatever you do fits with your style and you are a competent player after the flop. I'm leaning (significantly) toward my way, of course, since if you flat out don't play connectors like this, I think you are probably way too predictable at the table and observant opponents will realize you are a nit and never play speculative hands. |

OK that's fine, and I was frustrated. But I get tired of reading the 1-liner strategy posts with no explanation to them. Maybe sometimes that's all you need, because it seems fairly straightforward.
But, depending on how loose-passive is, aren't you supposed to be attacking their early position limps with all kinds of cards from the button? I don't see how you can just say, "duh, don't raise preflop with crap," when that clearly wasn't the issue in the hand. |

Well, duh.
But there is also nothing wrong with raising with it from the button after an UTG limper with deep stacks, depending on your image at the table, the flow of the game, and so on, IMO. In fact, I'll say that I raise with this here more than 50% of the time, so if you think this is a 100% fold 100% of the time, well, we will have to agree to disagree. |

Also, I would like to point out how unlike where all the money went in when hero was well behind, I was just about as far ahead as one can get when the money went in here. So yeah, this was a bad beat.

Wow. As if p-fan didn't get trounced enough in the other thread, you have to stomp on his nuts in here too.

Making a point about what constitutes a bad beat. Nothing personal against Penguin at all.
