I feel for ya..
I have been having a bad week like that. Yeah, I would say the 9 high floosh was kind of weak to be playing that hard. Oh well. I got my K high cracked by A, my JJ makes a straight and gets beaten by QJ straight. My KK's run up against AA's. It is just amazing how badly luck can go sometimes..

First hand was played wrong at every point. I can't find a single thing nice to say about how you played it.
Second hand, too aggressive with a mediocre hand. Third hand, you played it fine and lost, it happens.

Elaborate Chip... obviously the first hand was played very aggressively...and thats my style of play. However I think with my play, my opponent should of been inclined to lay down this two pair. I could had a made straight, a set or a higher two pair. Regardless of what he had, even if he made the call, I was a favorite to win the hand unless he had trips (in which i was a small dog) or a made straight (in which i was a 2 to 1 dog). My flush was going to be good if it connected, because my reraise would certaintly take him off a higher flush draw. Regardless I had tons of outs. It turned out I was favorite and I did hit one of my tons of outs, he just hit one of his 4 on the river. How do you play this? Cold call the whole way, and just fold if you dont hit. Or end up hitting and losing bc a player on a larger flush draw wasnt chased away by a raise? Thats weak play.
Also keep in mind this was an aggressive player, if I had cold called his raise, he would of put a bet for half my chips in on the turn. even if a club hit or it didnt... then what do I do? Muck? On the second hand you think I played it over aggressive? What should I have done? Fold preflop? I hit top pair with a K kick, and was checked to on the flop. Should I check back and allow an Ace to hit or give a free card for someone to possibly turn a set? Im then checked to on the turn, I still have top pair, theres a 89 straight possibility which is unlikely due to a 2nd position raise, and no 2 pair that would make too much sense (Q10s, or 67s raise in 2nd position?) although it was a possibility. Do I check back and give a free card to beat me? Then I made trips on the river with K kick. Do I fold to the river bet? Yea theres a chance he hit a set and filled up, but if you're afraid of every possibility you will never make money playing cards. Third hand was just rough....cant get away from that one Im interested to hear you elaborate |

You threw a couple of jabs in your response... (underlined)... You asked for comments, and you got them... The advice was free (Take it for what it's worth)
If you were looking for comments that backed you up, then you should have stated that in the title of your thread and I could have posted "nice play" or something like that.

I wasn't looking for comments that back me up. I posted some 'jabs', because you said I played the 2nd hand overly aggressive. So I asked you some questions, giving you the other side -- if I had played it less aggressively. I dont want to hear nice play, I want to hear what people think.
So how would you of played the 2nd hand differently? If a person wont call a standard raise preflop with KQ, with position on the raiser IMO they are probably playing too tight. If you disagree , then you disagree, theres nothing to argue about there -- just a matter of opinion. Once ur in the hand, you hit top pair with a K kicker, and its checked to you, not wanting to give a free card you make a standard bet of 1/2 the pot. Would you of checked? Then the turn hits, the Q is still TP and you are checked to once again, you make a slightly larger bet, still only slightly above 1/2 the pot and you are called. A straight possibility is here now, do you want a hand like 88 or 99 to catch a straight? An ace is still scary also. I think a check back is tough here. Would you check back? The river hits and you hit trips. Your opponent makes a 40 dollar bet. Obviously you dont raise here... but can you honestly fold to 40 bucks in a 108 dollar pot with trip Qs and a K kicker? lobo54: calls $154.20
Oh. Crap. You must realize you are waaaaaaaay behind here. No, I dont realize Im way behind...in fact Im probably percentage wise ahead....and I was. Im a favorite over any pair or 2 pair. Im a slight dog to a set, and Im 2 to 1 dog to a straight. I also think without a straight or a set, this reraise will get a player to fold 75% or more of the time Theres no doubt I was overly aggressive with this hand. I was drawing to the low end of a straight-- but I did have two cards to it. Also keep in mind I had an open end straight flush draw. If that were my only draw things may be different. Again IMO if you fold to a less than pot size bet with an open end straight flush you are playing entirely too tight. When the flush hits Im not praying he doesnt have a higher flush. Theres no way any sane human being would risk that much on a flush draw...even with the 50 he had in the pot, he was still getting horrible odds to call on a flush draw. I dont flat call his bet, because that is the best way to allow my flush to hit and then worry about a higher one , (and a straight too), it gives me control. If you are in favor of just calling his reraise. Then on the turn when he makes a bet of 75 dollars then what? Also I love calling with suited connectors 3-4 or above, especially in a mutliway pot. You have live cards, if you do turn trips or 2 pair its extremely hard to put you on, you have straight possibilities and flush possibilities, plus if you miss it is very easy to get away from, there arent many tough decisions Also Chip, Im not jabbin at u with these questions, Im curious to know what u think about it. |

The main reason I don't like the way this hand was played out was that I thought that you should have tried to keep the pot lower. Whether you think I'm right or not, K-Qoff is a trouble hand (Think of it like A-J or even A-10).
