Crackpot Jay?
I pray to the gods I never have a run like that, and I haven’t been playing long enough to know if they are part of the game. But I don’t understand how … “By the time I got down to $3-6, I was regularly losing the 30 big bets in an hour or two -- despite the fact that I am a fairly conservative player who almost always plays solid starting hands, draws only when the pot odds are right, and does not blindly call down opponents with mediocre hands (like a middle pair).” I might be cursing myself by saying this, but that seems like a near-statistical impossibility. I suspect the key word in that sentence is “almost.” And who the fuck plays on Captain Cooks Poker? |

the problem is, he is just an abysmal player. from his discussions of his play, it seems like he has a number of big problems.
1. he overvalues hands, and then gets married to them. 2. he disregards the importance of position, particularly by playing mediocre hands from up front. 3. he is weak and very predictable in his play. i cant believe that espn would pay him for all of this crap. he cant play, and his writing isnt that captivating either. i know that he has a tremendous resume in the journalistic world, but maybe he should stick to the other endeavors, because this clearly isnt his forte. |

i think he simply should have stopped a long time ago and took a poker vacation. 5 months on tilt could do that to anybody. Oh and did he say he learned something from Tilt???
