Party tries to compete with Stars tournies
well I logged onto party the other day to use up my FPP points before they take them away from me and noticed about 15 $1 tournies, 10 $2 ones and about 5 $3 ones. Seems like a good attempt to get more players there since stars micro limit tournies are soo popular. What im wondering is if we are gonna see party introduce micro limit cash games like stars has. I have seen such a great drop in Parties buisness latley and I figure Stars is alot to do with that. Im actully happy to see Party introduce these games in bulk like they have now, they have always had a couple $1 and $2 ones but the amount they have now is nice.
So what do you think is next in the agenda for Party? Anything else you think they can do to compete with Stars who seem to be comming out with new good ideas weekly. |

I don't see this "great drop" in Party's business, but maybe I haven't looked as hard as you.
I will say that the VIP accelerator bonus that party just introduced a week ago (runs for 8 weeks) blows the VIP program at Stars out of the water in my eyes. I still think Stars is trying to compete with them and not the other way around. Stars #s approach party's, and on some nights, they have more players. However, Stars has waaaaaaaayyy more play money rejects. Also, they have the micro stakes games that you talk about. I doubt that this slight edge in traffic produces as much rake party is taking on a regular basis. Also, Stars hasn't had a good idea since the VIP program came about. I don't know what they're doing weekly. My girl wants to party all the time, party all the time, party all the time!!!!

low/microlimits are so popular because the overwhelming majority of ppl who play online poker today are low/microrollers.
simple as that... stars was very smart from the beginning to attract and nurture this huge customer base by pumping up the $1 SNGs to the max, among other things. |

If there is one thing that Party did right was that they never foolishly added nano-limit tables. Gamblers will keep reloading and playing, so there is no need to set up these tables unless the business running them wants less rake.

But why keep people who want to pay you to play from doing so? It can't cost that much to have a few more tables that are low limits.

The main point with low limit tables is people tend to play BAD poker, so...
They lose a little at a time, but it becomes a lot in the long run. Why does intertopspoker.com have $10 + $1 SNG and $5 + $1 SNG Because people many times can only afford the $5 + $1 and their profit margin is that much more. Quantity of hands(and loose play) vs Expensive rake.
