Man Utd vs Chelsea
So the final of the Champions league is between Manchester Utd and Chelsea, who do you think is gonna win?
My money will be on chelsea. thadeas. p.s. The game is called FOOTBALL because we mostly use our feet when playing it, why do americans call it soccer as it aint played in just socks, they wear boots aswell. Also why call it American Football when they most run with it in hands? Soccer isnt soccer, we invented it and it's FOOTBALL, the end. |

In answer to your PS (since I know nothing about soccer, other than that my 6 year old son plays it), Americans did not devise the word soccer, it comes from your side of the pond (assuming you are in UK). I guess we took off the "a" and added an "er" to accommodate our lazy accents.
Wordorigins.org "Soccer Soccer is an abbreviation for Association Football. The Football Association was formed in London in October 1863 when representatives of eleven clubs and schools met in an attempt to standardize the rules of the game. One of the rules prohibited the carrying of the ball, a rule that would lead to the Rugby-oriented clubs leaving the Association several months later. The name Association Football was coined to distinguish it from Rugby. By 1889, the abbreviation socca' was in use, and the spelling soccer had made its appearance by 1895." And it looks like Bodog has ManU listed as a slight favorite at -125 to lift the trophy.

Actually, I don't think this is true. I believe the origin of the name "football" refers to the game NOT being played on horseback. why call it American Football when they most run with it in hands? If you want to name our game by what's done most frequently, it would be called "passball" or "airball." And for that matter, why is the germinal game of what we call football called "rugby"? It's not played on a rug.

After I saw the OP, I knew RD was in here somewhere with these comments. Thanks for coming through buddy.
It's fun to make fun of it, but I played soccer for like 7 years...however, I stopped when I was older. When I watched the World Cup 2 summers ago(?) I had been removed from the game for a while but all that fucking flopping drove me nuts. It was compelling to watch, but I was just as turned off by the flopping as I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it is into my favorite sport and it really pisses me off. Man up, you turf-hugging bitches. Do you honestly feel good about yourself trying to draw fouls by fake-falling? It would make me cry myself to sleep if I did that shit...

lol you do relise this is a poker forum.
seriously thou, Kurn you are right, rugby is not played on rugs (imagine all those carpet burns lol) but rugby is more like American football (without the pansy pads) so therefore would be in the passball or dare i say it handball (they should invent a game called that lol) name group. Jhill, good spot with the wordorigins, i did not know that and therefore stand corrected (actually im sitting but you knew that as at my computer lol). let the debate continue. thadeas |

There is a reason that France won the world cup
I'm pretty sure Italy won the last World Cup.

If anyone listened to me and bought at 1.93, you can now layoff at 1.8, giving you a 13c/$ freeroll on Utd (or about half that guaranteed arb if you don't want to gamble).
I don't see the line changing too much, Utd will probably shorten just a little bit more to about 1.75. I think I'll layoff half my money today and the other half if the line does shorten to 1.75ish, which would give me a $400ish freeroll on united. |
