Do you ever get the feeling?
That you pissed someone off...like the poker Gods?
I have been getting bad beat after bad beat lately. All in preflop with AA against QQ. He flops zippy and still ends up with quads. Are you kidding me??? Unreal the beats I've been taking. I want to quit! |

I've been in the same boat the last few days. I have found that in order to appease the poker gods, I have to kick my neighbor's cat twice. It sometimes takes 2-3 days to catch him(her?). One more good swift kick to go and I'll be back in business.

In those spots, I feel the best thing is to quit playing for a while.
Now, it's true, that I can never do that, but I imagine it would be the best thing . What I do is just change it up a little. You sound like your playing NLHE. If you play SNGs, play some cash games for a while. Or vice versa. For me, as a limit player, I just play a few SNGs or even a MTT and I'm ready to go tomorrow.

Well Pshabi... Did a 5+.50 sng. Took first place. Did much for the confidence. Think I'll tighten up my game a bit for a while.

I'm getting kicked in the junk on a routine basis as well. AA vs KK all in pre, he flops a K and leaves me with shit for chips in an sng. AA vs Q8 all in pre, he ends up with trip Q's to knock me out of sng. AK vs A8 all in pre, he catches a fuckin 8 to knock me out deep in a tourney. On and on. I've split at least four decent pots in the last two days as well. I think that is what they mean when they talk about "variance".
Enough of my bad beat whines, so, do I take a break when I'm getting my nuts kicked up into my asophogus? NO, I keep playing and tilt like a jackass. I think a break is the best thing to do in that situation. I'm still working on that part of my game..... |
