WSOP 2007 - General Updates...
We have a number of threads about TP peeps and the 2007 WSOP already...
- - - - - - (I'll try to keep this list updates as new threads are created) ...but a lot of those are getting really cluttered and we don't really have one for general updates yet. So - we do now. Post away, Vegas boys. |

I'll start...
After sorting out my here earlier today, I grabbed a bite to eat, bought some ridicullously overpriced groceries, and then headed over to the Rio. I met up with New Guy shortly after I got there, and before I knew it, we were sitting in a $2/$5 NL cash game. I don't even remember what time it was.... maybe 4:00? I don't think I left my chair until 9:00 when I finally got up and went to grab something to eat. New Guy left the game right around then to head back to L.A. for a few days (he'll be back). When I left the table my stack was around $2200, I think. I had reloaded for a couple hundred in the beginning, so I was in for $700. Nice. After dinner, I ran ridiculously cold and gave some back (I literaly did not scoop a single pot - not even the blinds - for an hour and a half), but I still left the table up over a grand over all when I quit. Finally, a good session. The thing is though, I felt like I was playing GREAT poker. New Guy was there for a lot of it, but without seeing my hole cards, he doesn't know the whole story. I pulled off some SICK bluffs and I made a few (4 or 5?) really big laydowns. Folding JJ when I KNEW my opponent had QQ on a T high board (he had exactly QQ), folding TPTK when I KNEW my opponent hit his straight on the turn (he showed it), folding flopped trip Ts vs. New Guy when I KNEW he had a T with a bigger kicker (he did), and so on. It felt pretty good to be that in tune with my opponents. I also ran pretty good for a short period there. I had AA twice all day, but they came about 5 minutes apart - won smallish pots with them both times. My biggest hand was when I won $10 from New Guy on an all black flop (boo-yah!) and flopped he nuts (broadway) at the same time. I led out, a dude raise, New Guy flat called (with a pair + nut flush draw), I reraised, dude shoved, New Guy though and then folded, my hand held up and I scooped a BIG pot. Ballers Mayhem and sjay were partying it up at the Bellagio all day, but stopped by just as I was playing my last orbit. I think they were out past 6 AM against last night. Oh man, these kids today - I'll tell ya! No firm plans for tomorrow yet... I'm leaning towards playing in a $540 tourney at the Venetian on Wednesday though, and then Thursday is the 6 man NLHE WSOP Event that I've been looking forward to for about a year. Time for sleep. |

I decided to take today off from playing poker. So right now, I'm doing laundry instead.
I'm going to go out to dinner with some friends tonight and then swing by the Rio and see how sjay and Mayhem are doing in the Limit O8 event tonight. Slackers didn't even post that they are playing in it, but they are......... I also found the schedule for tourneys at the Venetian. I think I'm going to play in one or possibly two of those instead of the $1500 WSOP event that I was considering playing on Saturday. They have a $1060 on Friday ($10k starting chips - 25/50 blinds to start - great structure), and a $540 on Saturday. I think I'd rather play in both of those than the WSOP crapshoot on Saturday. I'm gonna play it by ear, depending on how the 6 man tourney goes on Thursday. |

There were actually another dozen or so as well - you guys just don't know all of their names.
I was surprised to see him, since I'm pretty sure he's like 19 or 20, right? Basically, he just came over and said hello, so I said hello back - no hitting. He said he got here a couple of days ago and will be here until August, so I'm sure he and shabi will have plenty of time to go drinking. Because he's underage, I assume he'll be sticking to the cash games. I don't know what he was playing, but I saw him cashing out about 3 racks or red ($1500) later in the night. As for me.... I ended up playing for about 6 hours, until like 4:30 AM local time. I was again playing well, but I did make two calls that I shouldn't have. I knew better, but called anyway. Ran pretty crappy overall for the session, and finished down about $300. considering those two bad calls alone cost me about that much, I'm happy to have been able to break even the rest of the night. Reads were very solid all night, once again. My problem with the two calls I made was going with my brain ("he couldn't have REALLY hit that, could he?") instead of my gut that knew right where I stood in the hand. I was planning on leaving about 2 hours earlier, but the later it got, the more shorthanded we played, which is definitely an edge for me. And some drunk guy came and sat at the table too,so I just couldn't resist. Naturally, he was a drunked card rack. I'm doing nothng today - might play cash game for a while later, but I'm calling it an early night tonight, as I have the 6 man event tomorrow and I want to be fully rested. None of this going to bed when the sun is up crap. sjay and mayhem can do that and still play well, but I'm way too old. |

I'm at herschelw's place right now, railing his nightly tourneys. Watching him play too closely makes me nautious (so... many... tables!!!) so I thought I'd take a break and catch up on the forum on his laptop.
I'll post a pic of his set up shortly. It's sweet, down to the pile of loose hundreds next to his mouse pad. |
