improving
read this from an article by Taylor Caby...
"Every week or two, ask yourself the question, "Am I a better poker player than I was last time I asked this question?" If the answer isn't a resounding yes, and you can't think of anything you have learned in the last five to ten thousand hands, then you aren't focusing on improving your play, you are just playing." -While it might sound dumb and obvious, I really have been just playing for the last 3 months or so. I mean ya I slowly improve based off experimentation and logical thinking, but I rarely read poker books anymore or watch cardrunners videos or any of that. I really need to make sure every week I am improving from now on cuz I'm sure I should be beating 3/6 by alot more than I am, right now I think i'm usually the 2nd or 3rd best player at the table - spread out among 12 tables and thats still good $, but I should be at least 1st or 2nd best by now for sure. I'm really gonna try to ask myself that question at the end of every week, maybe even post in this thread the new thing I really learned, we should all do that and we'd be killing 25/50 soon.

You are totaly right. This is reat post. I was asking myself this question a I have to say that my ansver is no. I didnt read new pokerbook for 3weeks. (Becouse it takes 4weeks till the delivery.) I m not a beter player since last month, but I play limit and I can constantly build up my account. As I already sayd, this is great thread.

JD - how are you not improving when every month you set goals to think more about poker and to improve your game? At the end of the month, you seem to skip over that goal when reviewing them and only post some graph of your winnings. Maybe you should start taking your goals more seriously one of these days.

I don't think everything Taylor says is dogma, especially the quote stated above, and this is coming from a CR member. It's one thing to make sure you're playing the best poker you can (making the best decisions, etc.) but poker is a long term game.
You're not going to see results (or learn something new) every two weeks.

I mean ya ur not going to learn some totally new concept, but i think you can talk alot about a certain hand and learn to play that hand better, or learn the exact odds you're sposed to have pf to call a 3bet with a small PP and stuff like that.
