Default Playing marginal hands sometimes

This question goes out to everyone because I think I just cracked a awsome hand with this. Im sitting in late position and I get 9d10d and say WTF lets try it flop comes down.

so ive got middle pair and this guy bets like right away into me and I call dont ask me why I just do.

turn is

Q

I call again not knowing why im still in this freaking hand and I river the king.

so my question is does this ever happen to you when you call with a marginal hand just for the heck of it or is this something I seriously need to stop?

I love taking flops with 9Ts to crack a hand like KK or AA but I would of folded it after not hitting anything.

I agree with omahilo. I will always play 9T or 89s just to see if it hits. When you hit second pair, that is just inviting trouble though. I would have folded it at that point. However, you were on open ended after the turn...I would have called the turn also. I am assuming this was limit HE...

This is why you will eventually go bust, Brian. I love s00ted connectors, so your PF call is fine, but you show your true colors when you called down to the river with a pair of 9s. Yea, you have the straight possibility going for you, but runner runner? I dunno...

As I said, this is why you'll go bust. Sooner or later, you will sit at a table with a few good players who idenitfy you as a weak player, and they will take care of you.

The only advice I can give you is to keep playing low limits.

Like I said I dont do it often only once in awhile, usually I would of layed it down right away on the flop. It was a bad decision I admit it but hey im allowed to make mistake once in awhile right? Dont see me going broke anytime soon if I make that mistake once out of every 100 hands that will not break me. Like I said in a earlier thread I hardly ever chase unless i have more then just the flush going for me like AdKd with all low cards and 2 diamonds.

If I chased every draw then I would agree with you that yes im going broke and fast. since im very selective as what I chase think I will be ok but as for this time yea it was stupid. I dont concider myself a weak player and other dont either I just made a mistake in a hand.

Not saying im a great player and im quiting job and playing for carrer but I think I can hold my own against some good players. So im just wondering Lou how much money do I have to make before you decide its not all luck and I know how to play? make the amount over $2,000 though since ive already cleared that. Not trying to brag or act like im the best but noone gets that lucky.

Brian, don't flatter yourself. The past week, I've been playing $100NL, $20/2 SnGs, and $1/2 NL (home games) - and my success, just this week, is getting close to 4 digits. I don't publish results on this forum or even in my blog because, unlike you, I'm not looking for approval.

Done w/ online poker? LOL. You couldn't quit when you were losing, and you expect me to believe you're going to stop when you're on a hot streak?

Brian,
Let's put this into perspective for you:
I am up a whopping $25 bucks on UB right now...
How do I figure that?
Well...
I deposited $1k
Got a bonus of $100 in my pending account.
I have cleared $75 of it...
My balance is at $1125.

You would think I would say, "hey! I'm up $125", right?
Wrong.
The way I look at it, is that $100 was "MINE". I just had to fulfil a task to receive it. In this case, play some breakeven poker.
Therefore I am at $1150 total. [Current balance plus $25 in pending account]

I will consider myself to have lost if I finish my session tonight at less than this amount. Why? because it is MY money.

Ask yourself this,
If you played in the PokerStars 350k guarantee on Sunday, and hit an amazing run of cards and won the whole tourney, and were given first prize of $100k. approx.
What would you do if you could not cash out via Firepay, and had to wait for a cheque?
Would you drop into the highest stake games and blow it?
I wouldn't, I wonder what you would do.

Brian.
I don't know you, nor will I ever probably meet you.
I am about to give you the single best piece of poker related advice anyone on here will ever give you. And I do mean ever.

Good luck Brian.
You've got some tough choices to make in the future.
I won't tell you that you should do anything... I'll just say, even without ever having met you, I hope you make the right decision...
For your wife, for your sick child, and for your self.

I really hope you make the right decision.... Whatever that may be for yourself.

LOL....how am I addicted to gambling when I hardly spend any money playing, the biggest deposit ive ever made has been $300 twice when I worked the overtime for. I do not spend bill money on poker only extra money I make.

It would be real easy for me to open my firepay account and empty my whole account if I wanted to. Someone that was addicted would do this in a second. I have enough control to know what money I can spend and what money I cant spend.

If this dosent fit your description of a addict then really everyone that plays poker is addicted. If I where to bust out today I wouldnt go deposit again, its happened before where I busted out and didnt deposit again for weeks until i worked enough overtime for it. Please explain how you see im addicted?

looks like party poker screws you over if you have firepay they wont put the money back into your firepay account like they will with netteler so took my roll to 15/30 and 10/20 and blew it away. Wish I would of known about this before I deposited there and I dont feel like having them mail me a check I dont trust them. Gonna be gone for awhile ill catch u all later.

Let me lay the groundwork.

Saturday night was late for me. Didn't get to sleep till 7:45am. Woke up at 4pm-ish on Sunday. Because of that, I didn't sleep tonight cause I never got tired. Not a big deal, happened before...

Anyway, since it's been such a long night, lemme get this straight:

You tried to withdrawal, it didn't go thru, and you decided to play well above you limits. And lost? Everything?

Plz tell me this isn't true.

I do not understand this. Let me paraphrase what i think you are saying. You tried to cash out of Party Poker by having them put your money into Firepay. They don't do that (except to the initial deposit amount i believe). So, instead of having them send you a check because 'you dont trust them' (even though they are probably the biggest and most reputable poker site online) - you took the money you had won and went to big limit tables and lost it all?

So, taking this one step further, lets say that you got lucky at the 10/20 and 15/30 tables. Now what? You have the same problem. Are you going to trust them to send you a check for say $5k, when for some odd reason you wouldnt trust them to send you a check for something like $2k? You would have the same problem, right? What was your plan beyond that?

I am not trying to join the 'jump-all-over-bryans-sh#t' club, but i just don't understand your logic. I thought i read in a previous post by you that you were going to cash out.

I guess your arch-nemisis (Aeq.) was right afterall. I actually thought you were going to prove him wrong.

You don't understand his logic, and you're surprised by that?

FYI: Brian's arch-nemesis changes weekly. A month ago, he hated me and the two forum moderators. Now, he loves them b/c they sat at his low limit game, which all but gave him an orgasm. I don't know when you joined the forum, but Brian has been banned two or three times, left on his own accord, came back, has had NUMEROUS mood swings, told everyone off, gotten caught up in various lies, etc etc etc.

It's nothing new. It's kinda fun. He'll be back.

No doubt.

Default been watching from afar....

LOL. Yeah, i have been watching most of the drama from affar. I have been around since the early stages, i just didnt (and dont) post as often as i should.

I am hoping he stays around long enough to reply to what the line of thinking was regarding not wanting Party to send him a check. I guess i dont get what he didnt trust about that. I assume the WORST case scenario in his mind is that they wouldn't send the check!?!? What else would you 'not trust'/ Them coming to your house and robbing you once they knew your home address?

So, assuming that he was worried that they wouldnt have sent him a check, how is that different than the situation he is in now - both means he has no money. At least if he requrested the check - I am pretty sure they put the initial deposit back into his Firepay account - he would have that at least.

I promised myself i wouldnt get wrapped up in these long-drawn out threads like this one, but i got to the point where i couldnt help myself.

Default clarification

by 'long drawn out threads' i am referring to the ones that seem to consist of 20 people telling brian (for example) what he did wrong, then having another post with a similar mistake 1 week later. I like the 'long drawn out threads' that have a good back-and-forth exchange of information.

But, Aeq, you are right - these are sort of fun to read.

Couldn't cash out to Firepay,
So you blew your roll (and gave party some nice rake at the same time) at the 10/20 and 15/30 tables?

This is the only possible response:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

And I didn't backpeddle. I forgot a word.... Big difference.

I stated something that you thought was "mean and nasty", Omahillo was smart enough to pick up on it. Why weren't you Lawyer boy?
