Michael Vick
Just signed a contract.
10 years, $100 million plus 35 million in bonuses. So much for spending wisely and salary caps. |

Vick is certainly a great player ...
but how about drawing the lines, say, five years and 60 mil instead? 10 years is a ridiculous length of a contract -- it's great for him to be able to end his career in Atl, but there's no way he'll be your starting QB in 2015, meaning you are going to be eating an awful lot of that to buy him out six or seven years down the road.

That's an outrageous contract, 10 years for anybody in any sport is insane, never mind a football quarterback.

10yrs / $100m? Wow.
Gawd-damn. That's a nice little bankroll. I don't think anyone in the league is worth that kind of money. He's a great player, but is he worth all that?
I agree Vick is a high-performance QB, but he's also a risk taker. He's exactly the type of guy I DON'T want to sign for that much (and for that many years) because it's more likely he'll get injured before he's able to retire at his own will. Big move on Atlanta's part, either way.

no one is worth that much money for that period of time in football.
i love watching vick play, but he is just too reckless to be able to hold up for that long. of course this will just be restructured a hundred times for salary cap purposes, but this is still a ridiculous contract. |

why would you give someone like vick a contract like that. theres bound to be more years like last year.

The reason it is a 10 year deal is to spread the cap. I know $130 million is a lot to spend on a 24 year old, but in my books he along with McNabb, Brady and Manning are all worthy of being the highest paid player in the league. Vick is actually the type of player to build an offense around, and IMO they don't really need a guy like Warrick Dunn. He is a QB/RB. I say he's the most influential player of his time, a new breed of QB. I'd rather go with a B grade RB, save a few million and sign a decent receiver to aid his passing game so he can spread the field even more.

Regarding your tagline...
I had a hot 29 year old Business Exec when I was 21. So Godly, it does not make. Although you still get a nice high five!

Im sorry. Im from hotlanta, in fact i am at Georgia Tech. THis man is completely worth 100 million over 10 years. Do you understand what happens to the georgia dome because he is in town. It sells out. Vick merchandise?? Everywhere! And vick jerseys arent exactly cheap. Oh, and by the way he is a winner. season, 11-5 i believe? And what did he do to the Rams tonight??? A winning nfl team generates more revenue than you can imagine. Believe me, owners dont play players because they like them. Owners pay players because having them helps them make the money. Owning a team is an investment.

Oh and by the way, contracts arent set in stone, the only thing he was really guaranteed was the siging bonus which was the most ever payed to a pro football player, like 38 mill or something. He coudl still be traded in the future.
Go VICK, you da man! |
