Anybody listen to music while playing real poker?
I do off and on. I think I am able to do better when I am listening to music because I dont have to listen to the usual amount of idiots that are at the table.

yeah seroiusly... thats like the biggest scam ive ever heard of
(edit) i bring the cdplayer only in a limit game where i play like a machine. in NL, i have to focus on everyone else at a table because one slipup means i could lose all my money... cdplayers are only good for calming me down after a bad beat in NL -jB Last edited by johnbaker; 10-30-04 at 03:05 AM. |

Rediculous spam aside, I hate cd/mp3/ipods at the table simply because somone is always holding up the game asking if the action before him was a bet or a raise, take off the headphones and you would know.

I always either listen to music, watch a movie, or do my homework. Just playing poker on the net can be a bit boring. Live play is way more interesting!

Online, I will always listen to Music or a Trailer Boys episode, but in a B&M I wouldn't even consider it. May miss some crucial verbal tells.

I enjoy listening while playing online. In a B&M I would need to be alot more confident in myself, need to try to pick up everything I can, any edge I can. Does anyone do anything else while playing online (forums, surfing, whatever)? I have read where some pros, and books, say that is the worst thing you can do. But it may keep me from getting too bored, and making marginal plays. I feel this way mostly playing limit though. NL is a whole different animal.

Depends (As with everything else)
During the early rounds of a huge field low buy in at Party, in addition to listening to music, I'll also read these forums, surf around, whatever. I just don't need to pay that much attention -- wait for a premium hand, double up. Fold everything else. Rinse, repeat. But in my usual 2/4, it's a different story. There, aside from music, I'm usually concentrating (at least best I can) just on my table.

When I play online I almost always have some music playing. I've tried listening to my mp3 player while playing real games but found that it was more of a distraction/hassle than anything that could help me get into a rhythm/focus more etc.
