Default My biggest, and maybe last bet ever

All the games that qualify for play today are:

Mizzou -16

Kent State -1.5

Purdue +14

However I will be on one game and one game only, that being the Mizzou game. I have put my entire on-line bankroll on this game and I don't feel bad about it for a second. I think I got like $50 left on Full Tilt, but that's it.

This is not my entire bankroll as most of it was not kept on-line, but I will not re-deposit, this is it for me.

After bad beat, after bad beat, after bad play after bad play I realize I am just not cut out for poker, I can accept that. Last night's loss on the Rutgers game was the last straw.

Everything that had to go wrong in the last 2:30 of that game did, and it went perfectly wrong.

Blocked FG
Stupid penalty
Blatant bad call on the interference
Reciever left open in the back of the endzone
Missed Two point conversion that hit the reciever between the numbers.

All of that, ALL of it to lose a 3 point spread by one point.

Clearly I got some bad mojo going about now. I know you guys in the Bad Beat section hate the hand I posted, but nobody commented about the one outers I mentioned in the same thread, so it wasn't all just bad play, some pretty horrible luck in big pots, but I'm rambling now......

All the money I have on-line $2755 is on the Missouri game at -16 and $1943 at Missouri at -15.5.

This includes emptying my Neteller account, keep in mind that number was above $10K less than 5 weeks ago, been a tough run.

I lose this bet and it's over for me.

Yeah, wow. I thought one of the main rules for handicapping was to bet in even units all the time and so on. So why are you going for an all or nothing coinflip???

BTW - I am seeing Kent +2.5. Am I looking at the right game?

I got Purdue at +14.5 and as karma tempting as it would be to bet AGAINST Mizzou (for like 5% of what you have riding on them), I bet a second unit on them -15.5.

Serious question: If you win today, then what? Back to normal or are you going to keep doing this all or nothing stuff until you inevitably go broke?

See Bold +

You mentioned karma earlier, so I will probably lose and yes I will quit, I will not regret it. I said before this was a means to an end, I never did it for fun and certainlly don't enjoy it now. I easily put in 30 hours a week handicapping and playing poker, I've got about -6K to show for it recently, thats not a slump, that is things passing you by.

What if I win, I honestly don't know, part of me kinda hopes I lose to be honest.

Game is about to kickoff, I'm leaving the house for at least a bit.

If you don't hear from me again, well it's been fun, for the most part.

Good luck, take care and hope the cards treat you better than they have me, that's for sure!

Good attitude.

Anyway, after you "double up" today, I have a request - In the future, can you please list te full game (both opponents) when making picks? That should help prevent getting the U ofs mixed up with the States, not to mention typos like Kansas vs. Kent, etc.

Anyway, GL on the Mizzou game.

After suffering bad beats and taking risky bets that don't pan out etc etc...the best thing you can come up with is to put your entire roll on one game?

I mean, if you lose them...it's just going to convince you that you are awful at poker and life and you're going to get pissed off and mad that you lost all that money and that's not really the right way to go about it, right?

Why not take a few weeks off and go do something else you love and leave the poker and betting for another day. Half a dozen people have done that on this site and they have all said they realized it wasn't as bad as they thought and that when they came back they had a clearer head and did better in the long run because they knew they didn't need poker (or betting as the case may be).

For the record, Joey Porter isn't going to be there all the time to intercept a pass and run it back for a TD after a missed FG to help you cover the spread. It's called gambling. It doesn't run good all the time.

If you think about how completely awful you are running now, you have got to run just that good at some point in the future.

I agree. And it's not too late to "hedge" at least part of this bet, and just eat the vig. I hope you win, but anything can happen, and it just seems so needlessly risky to me.

Well I have all my online BETTING money on the Mizzou game too !!
Of course that is only $10,
and
It is what is left from the free $50 the site gave me.
(Lost the other $10 on Rutgers last night )

I can understand sports betting slumps like you have been in.
But,
Isn't Mizzou your favorite team ?
Aren't you a little biast towards them ?
I would rather put my money on a game that I "knew" was a lock for that week.

I will still root for you !! Go Tigers !!

Probably not, but there are a couple from earlier this year I wish I had bet more on.
Where a dog was getting a heck of a lot of points(+19/+20) and it ended up being a 3-6 point spread.
Hindsight is 20/20, but to say mediocre teams in big conferences are going to lose by that much usually only happens when playing a top 10 team (which they weren't).

The Kansas State Line is now -1. This looks like the biggest steal in history since Baylor is absolutely awful (ok maybe this year they are a little better than oawful but...).... so since the line is dropping that means there's something I don't know (and usually means Baylor will win whenever a line reacts like this).... so what is that something?

On a completely unrelated side note.... did anyone ever expect to see these two things in the same line this season: Vanderbilt -33 -110 ... the sad thing is Temple is that bad though...

Ironically, I won this bet (the typo), and it looks like I'll be losing the Kansas bet.

Eh, call it a wash!

Likewise.

Despite the bad run recently and today's horrible decision (just being honest), you're by far the best handicapper I've ever met.

everyone has a bad run...

its all apart of the game, just like poker. This pass week and a half I havent done too well betting sports either but Im not going to throw my whole roll on a NFL game tommorrow.

I think you should redeposit a small amount and rebuild.
