Default Shorthanded / Heads Up

After several single table sit and goes ( Around 100 ) I have found out I have no idea how to play when it gets down to 4 people, even 5. If you guys could just post some strategies for me to get started in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

HU section in the Harrington books (I believe Volume II) is a good start.

While I certaintly can't get into everything, I'll post some general strategies

- Realize the change in position with 4 or 5 people left. UTG is essentially LP, thus adjust your starting hands accordingly

- Most players tighten up in this stage, that means blind stealing is more useful

- Try not to call many raises, especially HU or OOP, fold or reraise for the most part

- If you are short, consider moving all in with any two cards as long as you are the first person in the pot. I prefer this play to CALLING an all in with 88 or AJ

Last as Boobie said, Read HOH Vol II

Assuming a tourney pays top 3, 4 and 5 handed are where the opportunities are to get a big stack going. People are tighter as Zy said, lower stacks play scared, bigger stacks try and steal so re-raising preflop with a wider range of hands all in vs a bigger stack is a move i use often.
