sbrugby...
Is this dude like the best high stakes cash player online, or what? (Well, besides Antonius, of course).
I don't rail the big tables much, but when I do, he always seems to be crushing everyone (usually Ivey). Let's see if I can find that link.... Ah yes, here it is: JD posted that the other day. Cool site. Let's see what they have to say about sbrugby.... I can't seem to find overall totals, but for , he was the second biggest winner, barely behind Ozzy87 and damn close to $600k to the good. Apparently, he's actually down . Holy shit.... as I was typing up this post, this happened. (Nice lineup at this table too, eh?) Here's a brutal hand against a guy that I have played against a lot at the lower limits (5/10 NL, mostly). I have a note on this guy - he's one of the best players on Full Tilt (at the lower limits, anyway), no question about it. He's a huge winner.
Then again, shit like this doesn't hurt his numbers, either: Full Tilt Poker Game #1453645765: Table Bennett (6 max) - $200/$400 - No Limit Hold'em - 3:46:59 ET - 2006/12/22 Seat 1: CaseyAtTheBat ($30,600) Seat 2: Erik1223 ($28,793) Seat 3: sbrugby ($138,818.20) Seat 4: the hustlah408 ($45,180) Seat 5: Wyteazn ($39,400) Seat 6: Phil Ivey ($40,000), is sitting out the hustlah408 posts the small blind of $200 Wyteazn posts the big blind of $400 The button is in seat #3 *** HOLE CARDS *** CaseyAtTheBat folds Erik1223 folds sbrugby raises to $1,400 the hustlah408 folds Wyteazn raises to $4,700 sbrugby calls $3,300 *** FLOP *** [8s 3c 7h] Wyteazn bets $6,400 sbrugby calls $6,400 *** TURN *** [8s 3c 7h] [6d] Wyteazn has 15 seconds left to act Wyteazn bets $13,200 sbrugby raises to $127,718.20, and is all in Wyteazn calls $15,100, and is all in sbrugby shows [As Ac] Wyteazn shows [8c 9d] Uncalled bet of $99,418.20 returned to sbrugby *** RIVER *** [8s 3c 7h 6d] [9s] sbrugby shows a pair of Aces Wyteazn shows two pair, Nines and Eights Wyteazn wins the pot ($78,997) with two pair, Nines and Eights *** SUMMARY *** Total pot $79,000 | Rake $3 Board: [8s 3c 7h 6d 9s] Seat 1: CaseyAtTheBat didn't bet (folded) Seat 2: Erik1223 didn't bet (folded) Seat 3: sbrugby (button) showed [As Ac] and lost with a pair of Aces Seat 4: the hustlah408 (small blind) folded before the Flop Seat 5: Wyteazn (big blind) showed [8c 9d] and won ($78,997) with two pair, Nines and Eights Seat 6: Phil Ivey is sitting out |

That is a damn loose raise from BB (after someone else already raised) preflop.
Why did sbrugby not reraise preflop? Guess he was trying to hide his strength, worked until the lucky river.

Don't take this wrong (seriously), but please don't try to analyze high stakes poker. Not if your thinking follows the above logic.
I think it's very common for the average player to watch high stakes game and be amazed at the "bad" play they see, with players often getting it all in with mediocre (at best) starting hands. The thing is, this isn't bad play at all... it's just beyond the comprehension of the average player, so to him, it looks bad. Barring tilt, etc, those crazy "bad" plays are often the result of very logical decision making. For this hand, I can look at it and very easily see exactly why it played out the way it did. But I'll gladly admit that they are plays (usually "heroic" calls of big river bets) that I don't understand. |

Yes I understand this is higher stakes and that it is different,
but as I said one should only make the play if you have a good read on your opponant. Edit - Sorry said this in another thread, only make this play if you have a good read on your opponant.
