My toughest hand to understand Value

I was wondering how everyone plays A10. Suited or not. It just seems like it would hold more value than it actually does. This hand lets me down more than it helps me. I find myself now folding this hand preflop 90% of the time. Maybe its the right play. I am not sure. All feedback appreciated.

i usually play this hand, but really i am hoping to flop top pair with a ten rather than top pair with an ace. i think that a pair of tens with an ace kicker is actually a stronger hand in this situation, because of the kicker problems that are inherent with a pair of aces with a ten kicker.

it isnt really a great hand for me unless it is suited though. obviously trying to catch three perfect cards for a straight isnt the best strategy, so it is probably best to just proceed with caution.

Limit or NL? What position?

Rare for me to say that something is too tight, but I can't see folding A/10 90% percent of the time. In late position, that's a raising hand to me. Obviously you have to let it go if the flop looks hostile or you run into real resistance, but that hand should make you money.

let me clarify. Any position. Not in ring games specifically for tournaments. I have a feel for it pretty good in ring games bc the play is a lot different. In tournaments i see myself losing a lot of chips with it. Hope that helps you help me out.lol

Position is key here, but also who are you up against. If a tight player raised in front of you fold it most of the time. If a garbage player raises, I would re-raise with it.

Post flop you do have to be cautious, for AA, AK, AQ, AJ if Ace hits.

I'd usually like to see a flop in any position with this hand regardless of position. Yes, I would also like to flop a ten with no over cards on board and have that lovely 10 kicker.

I like to play it in MP or later. I also will raise A-10 s000ted in late position.

Here's the trouble with that hand, your only going to get any action after the flop if you are beat, something to consider.

A,10 was shown to be a -EV hand in most positions.

shows it to be on average barely +EV. So this hand in particular is very sensitive to the position from where it's played.

thanks for the link. I am starting to play it a little more. The biggest change is i only play it in LP and fold it 50% of the time when its not suited

A-10

Is a raising hand if in the right position, the problem with the hand is that it only has a 23% chance of winning against any higher pair on the outset J-J Q-Q K-K A-A.
But depending on your posistion and of course your stack size it is a raising hand on the outset and you should manage to make remaining players fold with a bet after the flop even if you dont manage to catch.
Wether you have A-10 or 2-7 it doesnt matter it depends on your opponents a piece of good advice to to make notes against EVERY player you meet this is great at internet poker sites as it gives you the option to do this, you can learn how a player plays and what there weaknesses are by taking notes.

I like to play it cheap. Ill call it in MP with a lot of EP callers to hopefully flop 2 pair or a nice flush draw. Ill call in LP because its easier to work with, and usually raise it if folded to me in LP to possibly take blinds.

Like others said, I think it all depends on the type of table. Big raisers and a few callers, I don't give it much of a chance, but super loose and super tight players, it's much more valuabe or at least easy to play, especially if suited.

i actually just got dealt this hand in a shoot-out, and doubled up on the money TP gave me for my 200 posts. (flopped a set of 10s, guy had pocket jacks, he went all-in i called)

If there is a raise in front I always fold unless its a home game and I know the other player well. In EP On line I always fold. If I am in MP or LP then I will bring it in for a raise if noone has entered the pot. If there is a limper in front of me I usually fold but if I can sense weakness or it is a tourney I will often raise a large enough amount so that they fold. call/check in the blinds not wanting to play this mediocore hand out of position.
