Live Poker Sucks
Seriously, the title says it all. It is SO boring. Full ring is already absymal. Then, everyone takes at least two minutes to make a tough decision. Hurray the fuck up people. Oh yeah, lets not forget the great dealer mistakes either.
This rant is probably influenced by me dropping 2k today at live games, but it still doesn't change the fact that live poker is horrid. If the online poker thing becomes unplayable in the near future, there is no way will I ever become a live pro. |

Oh, come on... you can get in almost 5% as many hands in live play as you can online, assuming you multitable. And don't forget the increased rake!
I still enjoy playing lie FROM TIME TO TIME, but for any serious player, online is where the money is at, IMO. The sheer volume of hands you can play is reason enough to play online, and nothing else can make up for that. |

Eh blow me
You guys think online players are bad, but believe me, the loose fish at the live tables are much much worse. I realize you dont get in as many hands, but the amount you can win off bad plays is sick (sicker than most online tables). I mean any time you regularlly have 6-8 players seeing an unraised flop, and 4 players seeing a raised one, you know some ppl r donating money. As for rake, $5 for a half hour isnt bad IMO Two examples from tonights play -I had a player bet into me with A6 on a 356 board in a limp pot $25. I raised to 75 with the nuts (74), he reraised to $425 all in with A6 (the fact that he turned a 5 and rivered a 6 is irrelivant) - I raise UTG with AA to $30. 1 call, then the BB reraises $100 ontop. I reraise to $300 total (another $170) and this player pushes all in for roughly $900 with QQ

I don't see how hand 2 is badly played unless you are the biggest nit in the world.

I cant possibly call that bet unless he's beat -- also three betting UTG from a BB reraise light is pretty dangerous IMO. If he thought he was good the line was to call and act on the flop

That happens online too - about 10x as frequently (multitabling, faster games, etc), in fact.

You forgot one thing
Not only that, but when somebody's being a complete ass at your table, you can't just shut off his chat.

LOL.
You also don't earn FPPs that you can use to buy cool merchandise and put towards buyins

You don't get any of your rake back either.

Remind me to never play half-pot poker. Actually, no reminder necessary.
Also, remind me to send Zy loads of false tells the next time I see him. Actually, that's not necessary either, because his "reads" on me would be mostly wrong anyway. |

No need for reads, I'll just outplay you
And yea half pot poker is extremely extremely gay sounding, i dont plan on ever playing that game either

I personally like playing live vrs online. Online people picture you as some punk ass kid out to take their money. Live, especially at the weekly game, which is mostly my moms friends from work is nice because they give me pots because of how i look. they dont think little 'ol me could bluff them out of the pot. Also i am able to read people much better live. In the long run there is more money to be made online but your decisions can be much easier sometimes live when you can base it off of tells.

If you believe this, nothing else matters. Every other point you could possibly make (other than "it's more social/fun/whatever") is insignificant.

If you are playing for a living, then yes nothing else matters, But if you are in a situation like myself where i play pretty much recreationally than you should take other things into account. Plus i only Like live better, if i got serious serious about poker then i know online is the better choice

zomg i just tried live poker
5/10 half-pot at the local casino so so so silly trip report first hand i have KQ and raise to 20 (apparently u can only min raise in half pot preflop?) and get called by 3 players. flop JT9 rainbow. I half-pot and get called by two players. turn 2. I half-pot and get called by one player. river 6. I half-pot, and the other player (plebbish looking middle-age guy) tanks for like five minutes and declares that he's folding; disgustedly tabling pocket 5s (what?). he then proceeds to rave on about how he "can't win a hand" etc. each hand takes a few minutes and i proceed to get trashed exceptionally quickly (perhaps evident in this post still). beers and daquiris (sp?). i get no playable cards while the table fish proceed to dump about 5k to the other young guy on the table (who is pretty bad in his on right, btw). i raise KcTc on the button, nearly the whole table calls. flop QcJc6d. sb leads, bb calls, a few others call and i half-pot. only the bb calls. turn is a 7h and it goes check-check. river 7s and the bb leads out for half-pot. i fold and he shows 89o (what?). the dealer then squanders 15 minutes of my life trying to work out how to use the dealing machine. more beers consumed here i believe. i raise 88 on the button and the blinds call. flop 852 rainbow. check, check, i bet half-pot and the bb calls. turn T- the bb check-calls another half-pot bet. river K- the bb check-folds to me, flinging 23o to the muck, mumbling about AK and luck. i can hardly stop myself laughing because i'm so so drunk at this point. i raise J9s from the cutoff against two limpers and get called five times (obv). flop J83 (two diamonds). checked to me, i half-pot, and utg (terrible, terrible lagfish) calls. the turn is an offsuit 9 and utg min check-raises me. i go allin for not much more (maybe 200 into a 1300 pot i think). he thinks for three minutes, uttering nonsense like "i think we have the same hand" and then, seemingly reluctantly, calls with QTo (nice call, sometimes i fold the nuts personally) and stacks me. i get more drunk and go home. i'm never playing live poker again. the people are so obnoxious/borderline-retarded, the game is absurdly slow and alcohol impedes my pokering abilities. sdfaqesfasdfwerfkrewjtgrhalkbjnrtalkhbtrn |
