This certainly has turned into an interesting thread.
What I find most interesting are where people draw the lines. Stealing is stealing. Right? Or is it?
Don't get me wrong - I'm as much of a line drawer as the next guy. I have no problem downloading a movie for free or copying a piece of $300 software that I will rarely ever use ("stealing" from the big faceless corporations) - especially if this is something I would never purchase anyway. I would never steal Poker Tracker or a Card Runners membership or anything else like that though, because those add value to me and I think the people who created them deserve to be compensated. I couldn't care less about compensating Microsoft though.
I could never steal money from another (individual) person, even if it was someone I didn't know OR someone I didn't like. I'm always the guy who hands the cashier back the extra money they hand me, even if they are rude or whatever. It's just not right when I know they are going to have to eat it at the end of the day.
The only time I can think of where I might "steal" from an individual is the HU tourney example. If someone disconnects, I'd give them a chance to come back, but I'm not going to sit there and fold for an hour waiting for them either. Eventually, I'd start raising and just end the tourney. This happened to me once, and it probably took me 20 minutes to blind him off. Had he come back, I would have folded for a while and given him SOME chips back (but not all of them - I deserve to be compensated for the amount of time I was annoyed), but he never did.
As for the question at hand............................ I think I'd keep the money and chalk it up to a deposit bonus I forgot about. If they contacted me about it, I'd give it back.
