Considering I can't go back to his posts to show what I was talking towards...
He sounded like and even had a few posts pointing towards informing the cops of the situation (which he ultimately did). That's what I was focused on more than HES's actions.
I don't give a rat's ass about HES. Ban him. Aeq can turn him in to the cops. Whatever. I think he did something really stupid and he does deserve no sympathy. I know I would've turned him in.
Even if many people agree, is it really a good idea to discuss openly about whether to turn someone in and ban them from a website that they've spent time at?
What I'm getting at is..even if it is a stupid act and people agree on what should happen...it's not really our place to talk openly and take a poll about it..which I saw as simplifying the situation down to "Hey, who thinks we should can this guy". I just didn't see it adding any substance to the forum other than talking about a situation that is an awful reminder that we are all strangers talking on a random website.
I think it also belittles Aeq's decision. I'm sure it was a very difficult decision and I'm sure there are things about this situation that Aeq would like to put in the past and get on with life.
And, to open a poll about his decision seems as sort of a second guess. It seems quite disrespectful to go around him (a lawyer at that) to make a decision on the situation independent of the person affected.
Yes...we know about the situation. Yes...we would all like to help in any way possible. However, you have to remember that you are reading a random person's words on an internet forum. Sometimes people get overly involved in other people's lives and start making decisions while they forget that it's just some random person that they've only talked to on a website.
I wasn't/wouldn't defend HES. But, I think there should be enough respect put in place to let the people involved deal with it and to keep the forum moving forward.
