limit ring games. I really didnt play too much this summer (cashed out alot of bankroll). Sort of did some research and played a bunch of different kinds of poker online for low stakes. I played some stud on bodog, alot more NL ring games, STT/MTT, some short handed, heads up sng's (only to get knocked out first round again in the tphe tourney). Having looked at everything I dont know why I ever doubted that limit is the way to go. Basically I think that you can really focus on your own game, it doesnt matter too much how the other players play. It is easier to adapt, imo, to different styles of players. For instance, last night I sat at a $25NL table at Party. There was this absolute donkey 2 seats to my right. I know this term is thrown around but I am not kidding. I specifically recall that he pushed allin w/ 94o, again w/ J2o, and if I am not mistaken called an allin w/ 72o after the flop w/ nothing. He was overbetting the pot like crazy, limp, limp raise to $7, that sort of thing. Anyway I was just waiting to double up thru him, but of course I knew I would probably have to risk my stack to do it. I never got the hand to do it, and made exactly $1 when I left right after him. He sort of had me on my heels abit. If this was a limit table, I would be salivating. I could call his raise w/ JTs and try to take down a big one. No biggie.
I just think that you can feel good about making the correct decision over, and over, and over again. And you wont take the jolting suckouts for 60BB that seem to criple me. I guess it is more of a grind, but if you just pay attention, and work to adapt and improve, you will make money. I have heard many players say that the play doesnt really improve that much as you move up in limits, playing lhe as opposed to nlhe.
The only other thing I will add, is that I think it would be advantageous for me, and others, to learn to play (limit) omaha hi/lo.....
