Without getting too detailed, we handicap every game on the board Sunday, most college games on Saturday and baseball games that fall into the playable catagory and then post plays for our members that represent value.
You would be betting "Against the Spread" or ATS in football, yes. We would list plays such as Dallas -2 meaning we want you to ber on Dallas to win by two points or more, or Kansas City +4 meaning KC to not lose by more than four points. The industry standard is -110 which means you lay $110 to win $100, if you win you get $210 back (your 110 plus 100 profit) if you lose you lose $110, this is referred to as the juice, suck but thats the way it is.
In baseball and hockey things are a bit different as you would bet on a team to win without any kind of point spread but you must lay a heavier price to bet the favorite, such as Detroit vs Florida, if you want to bet on Detroit to win you are getting the heave favorite but you will probably have to risk $180 to win $100 and sometimes worse. This is the case for baseball as well. In years past you could lay a half a goal in hockey meaning if there was a tie your bet would lose. With the NHL going to a system that no longer involves ties we will have to see how Vegas adjusts these lines.
You can also bet over or under a specific point total and we sometimes have an opinion on those bets as well.
Lastly, people will tell you how evil professional handicappers are, and there are some bad ones with some exceptional scams and I'll follow this post with an example. We are not those kind of people, our record is publicly tracked and we have copies of the cashed checkes from the Hilton contest.
If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. Jumping into the world of sports betting is risky and must be done with that in mind.
