You make a good case for this, but there is one error in your logic, noted above.

It's not free. Because I have the money (or will) if I don't play, playing costs me $10,000. So, let's see, using a 2% buy in rule for donkaments, what should my roll be?

I'm sure you see my point. While the $10k lottery ticket is appealing, I think it's a better decision for me to spread that money around to a number of smaller buy in tourneys - including maybe a couple of shots at M.E. sattys where the prize is a must-play seat. It will lower my variance significantly. Yes, it lowers the chance of a 7 figure score too, but I'm ok with that.
