The FBI has zero authority to seize funds in foreign banks without the express cooperation of those banks. Some funds are being held as evidence in this case. I expect the banks are cooperating because they think NETeller's legal team will get an acquittal (I personally think there is a very reasonable chance they will).

This prosecution flies in the face of WTO rulings. While the DOJ and the current administration may think the US doesn't have to listen to the WTO, the judge has the final say.

I've been reading through the threads on FCP and there's a lot of misinformtion there, especially from the "I told you so" guy who is just parroting the FBI party line. The FBI is NOT the final arbiter on this, the courts will be.

As an aside, there was a link in one of the threads to a column by Walter Williams right after the Goodlatte Bill passed the House last Summer. For those who are unfamiliar, Walter Williams ia a conservative columnist who has occasionally subbed for Rush Limbaugh on the radio, Interesting read if for no other reason than to show that all conservatives are not behind this insanity.

I'm sure those funds are all held off-shore, so I don't see how the FBI has the jurisdiction to "seize" them (unless the bank(s) voluntarily comply with their request).

Ah, you beat me to the punch Kurn.

I edited the title of this thread to be a little more informative, and also added a better link to the OP, since it was merely pointing to another forum where people know exactly as much about what is going on as we do here.

Issac Haxton claims to have 800K stuck on Neteller. I like the way this kid is so calm about it. Makes me feel like his attornies have assured him that there will be a happish ending to this mess.

Boobie Lover 02-28-07 09:32 AM

Hurray, now I know of like 3 people with more money stuck in Neteller than me.

Talking Poker 02-28-07 12:25 PM

Man, that is crazy. For 800k, I would without a doubt fly to Country X, get an apartment, and then "verify" my new address with Neteller and cash out. I mean, even if that whole process cost you $10 grand (and surely that's on the high side), wouldn't it be totally worth it?

A couple months in Costa Rica would be nice anyway.

Reel Deal 02-28-07 02:33 PM

Nah, I think for $800K I'd fly to the Isle of Man and beat it out of them.

Talking Poker 02-28-07 04:51 PM

Another perfectly reasonable option. Well, maybe not the beating part, but the, "OK, I'm here - on the Isle of Man. Give me my money" part.

I have been trying to deposit funds into a new poker account and it's been declined twice, I am in the process of trying to reach them through the live chat, been waiting 30 minutes already, sent them an email with my concerns an hour ago and still no response.

I am Canadian but my account is in US funds, does this apply to me as well?

thrash1294 02-28-07 05:17 PM

The word from gambling911 is no person Us citizen or otherwise should be using neteller. There is also an article today about a class action lawsuit against neteller.Yea goodluck with that one.

Reel Deal 02-28-07 05:29 PM

I think under the circumstances a beating would be completely reasonable. :D

GeoffM 02-28-07 07:10 PM

I haven't run into any problems yet myself, use it daily.

thrash1294 03-01-07 03:17 AM

Just checkout gambling911.com for the details. All I am saying is be carefull ...:twocents: I suggest you keep most of your fund elsewhere only keep what you can afford to lose in there

Gordogg 03-01-07 04:13 AM

How much money do you have stuck Boobie?

GeoffM 03-01-07 09:09 AM

I got nowhere else for it. I may reduce bankroll figures, like maybe cut it in half. I got about $4,500 on neteller right now, but might just withdraw $2,500 just in case.

thrash1294 03-01-07 11:19 AM

yea be safe

They only got $100 of mine in limbo Always kept it low so I would have wait a couple of days to transfer from my bank if I went all tilty:thumbsup:
