Vegas meet-up -- setting a time/place

Alright -- only a few days away from WSOP weekend.

Should we finalize a time/place for a TP meet-up?

7:30 Friday night? Earlier?

Options include the Tilted Kilt at the Rio (the Irish bar with the chicks in kilts), the Island Bar at the Palms, or where ever else people will be.

What's the final tally of how many TP members will be in town?

__________
7:30 PM - Rio - Tilted Kilt Bar

Confirmed:
2Tone
TP (probably solo - TBD)
Zybomb (plus 2?)
lightfungus (plus 1, maybe 2)
New Guy is a maybe

I've been meaning to start this thread, so thanks for beating me to it. Let's discuss and come to an agreement. Then we can update the first post with the info (time, place, attendeed) and sticky the thread.

I vote for somewhere at that Rio. That way, people can enjoy the atmosphere and whatever else while they are waiting for people to show up. Plus, if some people come late, no problem. They can just join us whenever.

And Irish Bar sounds perfect. You won't ever hear me complain with a Guiness sitting in front of me.

As for a time, I was going to say we should schedule around the Main Event dinner break (it's chaos), but then I read this:
So, I guess we can't really worry about that. Do we want to do dinner and drinks, or just drinks? I vote for the former, followed by whatever we feel like - check out the tourney, hit another bar, go to a (strip) club, whatever.

7 or 7:30 sounds good to me. And I am definitel IN.

Who else? Also, try to give a decent count of how many "Plus Ones" you will be bringing, if any... that way, we can make sure we get appropriate seating.

Zybomb 07-20-06 11:40 PM

Im in. Im coming with someone, but I don't think he'll be coming along to this, as his Main Event start day is Saturday, but Im not sure.

His girlfriend may or not be coming along with us also (im seriously hoping not, as it'll kill the party life for us, not to mention how awkward it's going to be all sleeping in one hotel room:eek: ) So a max of 2, possibly 1 but more likely just me

Edit: Nevermind, his day is SUNDAY, and the GF is a definate now

Me and possibly 2 others

Just don't cross swords and it should be good.

lightfungus 07-21-06 11:16 AM

I am still debating driving up there. I would not be able to make it there by 7 I don't think, but I am not sure. Most likely it would be just me. When I went a couple of weeks ago, the Rio seems to have lots of parking, is that going to be an issue next weekend? Would I have to cab it from my crappy hotel?

Talking Poker 07-21-06 05:42 PM

I can't answer that (parking), but I imagine you'll be fine. Where are you staying? You and Zy should get a room for when you are there, so he can leave his friend and his girlfriend alone.

You should come, for sure.

New Guy 07-21-06 10:32 PM

They have wsop valet parking at the rio so you should be fine with the parking there. BTW hi all be working like a dog (entourage) but im trying to make my way up there.I should be up at some point during the ME ... Woman in kilts? Guess I'll be leaving new girl home!!!HEHE Is Bunny comming? :D

lightfungus 07-22-06 03:59 PM

This is something I am willing to do if you are Zy. I was planning on staying in 1.6 out of 5, the Golden Palm, which is on Tropicana, so it is a short drive to the Rio...but those rooms are gone now. Then I was looking at Binion's, but if I am splitting with someone we can definately upgrade. Lemme know.

Zybomb 07-22-06 04:18 PM

Im gunna stay with my friend... he's on the whole 'it's not big deal if erica (girlfriend) comes' thing, and I don't wanna start shit by getting an entirely different hotel room

Next time maybe

Talking Poker 07-23-06 04:45 PM

Is this really all that's coming? Don't get me wrong - it still beats the First Annual TP WSOP Gathering (Me and 2Tone), but not by much.

What about Penguinfan, New Guy, and anyone else who will be in town?

Penguinfan 07-23-06 04:53 PM

Penguinfan will not be in town, remember, his boss is a dictator and will not give him the time off. I am officially beyond jealous as I really planned on attending this years event in one capacity or another.

Next year for sure, and I mean it. I will be PM'ing some people to pick up some future wager tickets for me, I'll give em cash in advance.

I really wanna kill myself about now (see avatar) I am so bummed I'm not gonna be there.

Talking Poker 07-23-06 05:11 PM

I knew that and I forgot... Next year for sure - along with all you other chumps who told me throughout the year you were planning on coming and now aren't for one reason or another.

Penguinfan 07-23-06 05:22 PM

No doubt next year, if I gotta quit this job. A zillion companies a day are looking for top notch salesman, I take my 30 or so awards into an interview and I get an offer the same day I am sure.

I just gotta budget for it starting today and I'll be there next year.

BOY am I gonna be hard to get along with at the office next month.

Talking Poker 07-24-06 12:02 PM

Well, looks like this is going to be a small gathering, but no worries - it will still be fun. I may bring along a friend.

Are those who are coming cool with 7:00 or 7:30? With so few of us coming, let's PM cell numbers, etc.

Robbie Robb 07-24-06 12:59 PM

Hey, just thought of something - make sure you swing by the Pokerstars suite - Isabelle often drops by there :)

Talking Poker 07-24-06 01:05 PM

I'll be seeing her soon, I'm sure. But thanks for the reminder.

Tony Cheval 07-24-06 01:14 PM

Yeah, afraid it didn't work out for me, have fun guys.

New Guy 07-24-06 09:01 PM

Im trying to make it work for me. I may just come up later and I'll track you guys down via the fourm.

2Tone 07-25-06 11:54 AM

Let's make it 7:30

That will give those interested a chance to attend this event

I will be attending this too... didn't realize they would overlap, but no worries. 7:30 it is.

lightfungus 07-25-06 07:57 PM

It is confirmed that I will be there on Friday as close to 7:30 as possible. I will be bringing one other, maybe 2, but most likely only one. Look forward to it gents.
