WSOP Shootout...

The $2000 NLHE Shootout is going on at the WSOP today. I think this would be a very cool tourney to play in.

In case you don't know what a shootout is, basically, you beat everyone at your table (like a SNG), and then the winners advance. Beat everyone at that table, and advance again, etc, etc.

I'm reading through the update now, and I think this is just GREAT:

Oh please let it be Hellmuth.

Phil Hellmuth was the chipleader in the O8 event so I doubt it was him unless he forgot to unregister for this event.

This is why I think it's even more likely that it was him.

I would GUESS that UB buys them into as many events as they want to play in. With the overlaps in the schedules it makes sense for the pros to throw 2,000-3,000 of their sponsors money into an event in case they bust early in first event of the day. Even if they blind off for a bit they will probably still have some chips.

It was Daniel Negraneau that was blinded off against David Singer.

Talking Poker 07-17-06 12:16 PM

Well, how about that. Well played, Daniel.

It must be nice to have so much poker money that you can register for WSOP Events and then not even show up for them because you don't feel like playing in them.

Not quite. From Spuddy's post:

Yeah, I'm watching that right now, actually. And he's exactly right. WTF was Harrah's thinking changing the structure of the tourney on the fly???

They had 600 entrants, so rather than have 60 10 handed tables, they randomly decided t ogo with 100 6 handed tables, playing the entire event short handed. This is a HUGE error, and is completely unacceptable.

He is threatening to go to the gaming comission over this, I can't say I know much about that kind of stuff, will they even get involved?

Spuddy 07-17-06 12:53 PM

Just watch the video from Negreanus Video blogs, you'll understand the whole story...

Oh yeah Negreanu is the shit! He's the fucking man!
