Playing Drunk

Who here plays poker drunk, have u ever had big wins while drunk.

I seem to think its a good idea going all in with crap drunk, lose a fortune lol.

PShabi 06-21-06 12:32 PM

I play poker a lot. I get drunk occasionally. The two coincide from time to time, but I really haven't had a big loser when hammered. I've had some big wins though.

Robbie Robb 06-21-06 12:32 PM

I vote for the bolded part to be considered for understated post of the month! :D

Bangert001 06-21-06 12:35 PM

lol

Reel Deal 06-21-06 01:51 PM

Being drunk doesn't seem to effect your grasp of the English language, so I think you'll find no ill effects playing poker drunk.

lightfungus 06-21-06 02:06 PM

I stand my vote as RD for favorite sarcastic bastard.

PShabi 06-21-06 02:07 PM

ditto

ashmc2 06-21-06 04:16 PM

I feel that 1 or 2 loosens me up and I actually play better. Get in the zone. Mind u 1 or 2. But I do love the drunk call stations.

BrianSwa 06-21-06 04:56 PM

ummm

I dont drink so guess I dont know if I play better drunk.

Zybomb 06-21-06 05:02 PM

Anyone else smell a little bit of BS here? :p

BrianSwa 06-21-06 09:36 PM

nope

very very serious. I have a drink maybe when I go out to dinner with my wife. I have been drunk maybe 3 times my whole life, one new years with wife, once when we went out drinkng with wife and her 2 friends and im guessing once when I was younger or the time I was in Dallas for training.

really I just dont like the taste of alchol, I never have it at home, actully besides when my father in law had it when he came up for Gavins funeral dont think it has ever been in this house in 5 years I have lived here. I have no reason to lie of course its up to you if you want to believe me or not. I just dont find it enjoyable to be drunk.

I totally cant drink beer at all if I do drink it has to be mixed drinks and I hate vomiting so I dont drink enough to get drunk.

lightfungus 06-22-06 01:30 AM

I am UI now, and poker is the last thing I want to do, and should do. That is my opinion. PS, a lot of gramatical errors were avoided and edited in the production of this speech.

eejit101 06-22-06 01:36 AM

played poker when drunk - 3 times

Money lost doing so - $300 and $150

Money won doing so - $590

So im $140 up being drunk. That was the time i threw up on my cat. Good times

Zybomb 06-22-06 01:38 AM

In response to the original post...During college, Coming home drunk after a long bar night, online poker was my worst nightmare -- I played too aggressive and generally lost buy ins! I finally was able to get myself to not play any cash games and only play $10 dollar tournies if I felt like playing when I got home so I could only lose 10 bucks that night -- more often though, I'd be at an after party and then immediately pass out upon returning home (or find a nice lucky girl to occupy my night :D )

Talking Poker 06-22-06 02:40 AM

I'm trying to remember the last time I got drunk and played poker, and I can't.

We may just have to have a little experiment. What say we set up a forum game for LATE some weekend night, with the standard $11 buy in and the requirement that all participants have consumed at least 4 beers in the previous 2 hours? That's the bare minimum (enough that the average person would feel some effect) - feel free to drink much, much more.

I think that would be hilarious. In fact, we NEED to make this happen. I can picture this turning into another league entirely! LOL.

Pics of the emptys could be required to be posts in a thread in order for you to get PM'd the password. Obviously someone could fake it, but that would be uber-lame.

I'm probably going to be drinking fairly heavily on Friday night... not sure how "busy" I'll be afterwards, but time permitting, I could play then.

Zybomb 06-22-06 02:42 AM

4 beers in two hours??? I don't think DREW Shabi would be effected by that! Double that bitch

Talking Poker 06-22-06 02:47 AM

Come on now.... I'm saying BARE MINIMUM! Think about the lightweight ladies! You know, like N1k, MathBabe, bunny, eejit....

Obviously you and I would need to drink more to level the playing field. This is not a problem - not for me, anyway.

MAYHEM45 06-22-06 04:18 AM

Holy shit fuck piss, lets do it! What time?

eejit101 06-22-06 06:54 AM

im so up for this. Anytime

And in response the the n1k, bunny, eejit thing..........

fuck, who am i kiidding, 2 beers and im anyones.

on a serious note ill be consuming 6 beers, as 4 wont make me play like a dumbass.

Nikita 06-22-06 08:24 AM

This sounds fun, but yeah, I'm a lightweight. I don't think I will even be able to find the check or fold buttons with 4 beers in me. I can get a buzz off one.

PShabi 06-22-06 10:22 AM

LOL, I spend to much time here when my kids' names are being dropped in posts.:D

PShabi 06-22-06 10:22 AM

Ditto that. I'd be all over this game.

Robbie Robb 06-22-06 11:55 AM

I might regret it the next morning at 6am when Alex gets up, but, hey, what the hell...

Talking Poker 06-22-06 01:05 PM

Ok, we are definitely doing this then. As for exactly when, I'm not sure. I'd hate to set it up and then miss it myself. Stay tuned, I guess.

I'll definitely be drunk Friday night, but not sure if I'll be around to play.

MathBabe 06-22-06 11:31 PM

Since alcohol lowers inhibitations, and the last thing I need is that KTo to be looking even better in early position, I have a strict rule with myself about drinking and poker. Easy rule... no playing poker if I've had anything to drink that day, and the first drink doesn't get poured until the last table is closed down. The only exception is the league games, where I expect to suck anyway, and am only there to have fun.

As an aside, when my dad flew he had a strict rule about "12 hours between bottle and throttle". Whenever he quoted it he'd pause, get a little twinkle in his eye, and follow it up with "That's why you'll always see pilots drinking their beer out of a can".
