Happy Thursday to me!

I’m playing 3/6 at one of my regular rooms. Full table, pretty loose, most everybody is fairly friendly. I’ve played with three or four of the guys at the table before numerous times before.

I’m one off the button and get JJ. Early position (who I haven’t seen before, and have no read on) limps, middle position (an obvious beginner who has had some trouble understanding the betting structure) raises, and I make it three bets ($9). Blinds fold, other two call.

Flop is Jack, King … Jack. Most of the Washington card rooms feature high hand jackpots for quads or better. I’m $287 richer, plus whatever the pot turns out to be.

Early position bets, middle call, I call.
Turn is Queen, rainbow. Bet, bet. I call.

River is a blank. Again first position bets (Straight? I never found out) and middle calls. I opt not to raise, though suspect I would have been called. First players nods a acknowledgement/thanks, middle player stares at his depleted chip stack.

The pot was already one of the larger ones of the night so far, and many of the jackpots for other quads were less than $100, while mine was nearly $300. Jackpots are hit pretty regularly, and I’ve seen everything from a player announcing they have hit a straight flush after the turn to another guy who check-raised after hitting low quads on the river. But I’d never been in a position to face a choice on the matter. It seemed to me that leading out would have been alright, but raising overly harsh.

Thoughts on whether that was the right thing to do or if I was foolish for literally leaving money on the table?

does the hand have to go to showndown to win the jackpot (i know some do) if not, of course I raise here -- you're playing to make money...if it does have to go to showdown, although you'll probably be called, your risking losing $287 to win an extra $12....doesn't seem worth it

Exactly. I don't see what this has to do with etiquette, honestly. It's still poker. So play properly.
