Current game of choice?

I've noticed a few people jumping limits, or even switching games altogether around here lately.

Thought it might be a good time for people to weigh in on where they're playing currently. You might find a "limit" buddy or someone who is playing "higher" than you (I play higher than anybody :D ) who can mentor you a bit.

Anyway, what ya playin?

After beating myself over the head in 3/6 6-max for months, I finally got to a point where I was comfortable in my game. Last week, I made the jump (3rd time) to 5/10 6-max and have been doing well.

That's my game.

MAYHEM45 09-30-05 10:12 AM

For holdem (when I dabble in it) I play 2-4 Limit.
On party I play the O8 PL25 tables.
On prima Ill play any limit PLO8, especially following fish around, but regularly play the 20-40c tables there.

lightfungus 09-30-05 10:20 AM

.25/.50 and .50/1 NL wherever I may be.

Talking Poker 09-30-05 11:36 AM

That was my game for ages. I've been playing 10/20 6 max primarily for the past month or so. And I'll tell you right now, it's a BIG difference...

I'm not sure what my "game" will be when I get home though. I definitely want to start playing in a lot more WPT satellites and big MTTs... but I'll probably continue to grind in the 6 max games.

Oh, and after talking to people here, I am DEFINITELY going to try the $1000 NL tables at Party. Sounds like this is a fortune to be made there.

badblood44 09-30-05 12:18 PM

Ditto.

PShabi 09-30-05 01:02 PM

Please elaborate on the differences between 5/10 and 10/20.

I heard that there was a big difference between 3/6 and 5/10 but don't really know what it is. The only thing I see different is that you'll have TWO players at table who will try to run over you with nothing instead of just ONE at 3/6. Really, just a touch more aggression, but seems like the same game.

omahilo 09-30-05 01:14 PM

Holdem= $50 and $100 NL

PLO= $50 PL

O8= $50 PL

BlibbityBlabbity 09-30-05 01:40 PM

O8B - 50c/$1 Limit (full table)

some El Cheapo O8B, 7Stud 8B, NL MTTs

Anyone else still play LIMIT O8B anymore, Iknow geoff, omahilo switched over to PL. What limits/sites.

I have been playing at Paradise, but I will be giving Party's tables a try mid-October. Any other sites have good table selection at that limit?

Quint 09-30-05 02:21 PM

Just started playing limit omaha, high and O8. Anywhere from 2c/4c to 50c/$1 depending on what tables are available at the time.

Otherwise 50c/$1 LHE.

omahilo 09-30-05 03:07 PM

When I was playing limit I played 1/2 and 2/4 and dabble alittle in 3/6 at Pacific because the site was so soft. Also you should try the 6 max O8 tables, those are a nice goldmine.

You should try playing on stars, they have great 'el cheapo' tourneys. They have a $1 PLO, run quite a few $1 Stud8 and so on. I like to enter these every so often just for fun.

I also played some Stud8, its a great game that is really underrated. Ive been playing $10 Stud8 tourneys on stars recently, havent cashed yet but finished 20th in one on a horrible beat when my trip aces lose to runner runner runner flush lol.

Aequitas58 09-30-05 03:11 PM

MTTs.

Last night, I won a satellite to the $500k Guaranteed (this sunday) on Stars. Debating if I should play it or keep the T$. I think right now, taking the T$ and playing more tournaments is better EV.

LHE 6max is still the funnest "form" of ring game, IMO... too bad I get hammered each time I sit down. :)

omahilo 09-30-05 03:13 PM

Aeq...

sit aside like $50 T$ to try to qualify for the 500K again for this week, then if you do qualify play the tourney.

GeoffM 09-30-05 03:54 PM

I don't even think I've sat down at an online site since I cleared the last Party bonus. There SHOULD be another one of these within a week or so, and that's when I will play again, likely at the PL25 tables, and sometimes I'll mix in 1 table of 0.50/1 limit. I haven't had time lately to play online, except for the odd bonus.

Aequitas58 09-30-05 04:01 PM

Maybe I'll do that. :)

omahilo 09-30-05 04:05 PM

Me and My friend tried doing this before... win one then play for another one... we did win 2 seats in 1 week once and played.

Its almost like a freeroll lol... you play the tourney with less pressure.

The only time I played I finished like 400th, no money obviously but it was a great experience.

PS: Its nice to start with 2500 in chips and 20 min blind levels.

Aequitas58 09-30-05 04:14 PM

Yea definitely. That's a good idea for less risk. And when I do play: I will love a deeper stack and longer levels.

omahilo 09-30-05 04:22 PM

yeah this tourney favors better players because its less of a crapshoot for a longer period of time... near the end and FT its more of a crapshoot.

JDMcNugent7 09-30-05 04:54 PM

Game of choice :

$1/2 NL 6 max tables,
also i love playing satellites right now and want to start gettin more into the Big MTT's if i ever find enough time.

eejit101 09-30-05 10:55 PM

Ive changed round alltogether this week. Gone from 1/2 NL to....

Limit 6max 3/6
PL - 2/4

im making more money it seems, ill go up to 5/10 Limit soon with you pshabi, give ya a hand up there when i cream the 3/6

Oh and if im on party then its 200NL, but i never am

Talking Poker 10-01-05 04:08 AM

Remind me about this (in a new thread) in a few days. I'll elaborate fter I get home...

sjay2k 10-02-05 07:41 AM

5/10 6-max. I also play 10/20 6-max when I see at least two fish I know from 5/10.

eddo31 10-02-05 11:13 PM

just started playing again after a 6 month hiatus, so back to the .25/.50 and .5/1 tables at UB to clear a bonus.

after that i figure i will bonus whore for a while to build a bankroll and move up accordingly. no real site of choice, as that will probably be dictated by whatever bonus offers are out there.
