Minor Meltdown

Just collapsed on Party last night, managing to lose a little over $250 in about three hours, three and four tabling the 2/4 bad beat tables. That’s a lot of hands, but to lose that much playing 2/4 is humiliating.

During that time …
… I had my one and only full house beat (he had me at the turn, and we capped the river)
… I never saw AA, lost one of my two KKs, and lost with my one AK
… My BB were consistently raised, and kept missing the flop by a country mile

I pride myself on grinding and emotional control. I’m not always great at putting players on hands, and can’t necessarily calculate pot odds on the fly. So my edge comes in playing correctly and not making stupid decisions. But I let it get to me after a while, and tilted enough to turn what should have been a $100 loss into more than twice that.

I’m confident I can it back with solid play, but it was a big blow to the ego and didn’t do the bankroll any good either.

hey

lose 2 thousand in a night then come talk to me :)

omahilo 04-26-05 03:43 PM

well Brian his lose is from playing on tilt... he didnt move up to 10/20 and lose his entire roll lol.

BrianSwa 04-26-05 03:59 PM

yep

thats why i moved up because of tilt but point taken.

omahilo 04-26-05 04:15 PM

well if he moved up limits he would of prolly lose his roll... why its important to not move up when your tilting to recoop loses.

GeoffM 04-26-05 04:23 PM

When I go on tilt now, I go have a smoke, go have a bottle of water, and then switch the tables.

If smart players at your table sense tilt, you're dead in the water, or dead money.

SirFWALGMan 04-26-05 04:41 PM

Ha!

Lose 3000 in a night and come talk to me!

SirFWALGMan 04-26-05 04:43 PM

Tough

It is tough going through any losing streak. I have had a nice one going for a couple of weeks. It does really get to you. At least I have not tilted off my roll yet. lol.

BrianSwa 04-26-05 04:48 PM

serious

damn brother that sucks, I thought I made the record for bonehead lose in a sitting. Dont worry you will get it back I have faith in you.

Tony Cheval 04-26-05 04:54 PM

I've been there, blew most of my roll at FTP with a horrible run (though I did withdraw $200 of my initial $505 deposit). Just keep plugging away, and for the love of God don't overplay AK with junk boards. :D

SirFWALGMan 04-26-05 04:58 PM

Over it..

I am over it. In reality I lost nothing since I removed my initial deposit. Maybe a little pride. I tilted and went up the ladder and that was my payback. So be it. I am at peace with it.

BrianSwa 04-26-05 05:01 PM

that makes one of us

im not, every day I see stuff for like 1thousand to 2thousand dollar mark that I want and say I could of had that .

SirFWALGMan 04-26-05 05:22 PM

Distance..

It takes a little bit of time for the bile to die down. So be it. Next time you will be better about things and not lose a good stake.

BrianSwa 04-26-05 05:31 PM

next time

next time I do this thing called withdraw :) I was sooo dumb making stupid excuses why I didnt withdraw.

Aequitas58 04-26-05 05:53 PM

See my comments above.

ChipFish 04-26-05 06:00 PM

I got a mention in Lou's Blog. :D :D :D
"I am so lucky to have had the chance to play with such a wonderful person and amazing poker player like ChipFish."
Or something like that. ;)

Aequitas58 04-26-05 06:24 PM

Well, I wrote that the day after you gave me that amazing reach-around. I knew from then on you were someone special.

ChipFish 04-26-05 06:28 PM

It was pretty good eh? ;)

Aequitas58 04-26-05 06:36 PM

You didn't see me complaining. :D

BONUSAPR cleared

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I took a couple of days off, then returned and enjoyed a dramatic change in luck. A few hours of three-tabling and I cleared this month's bonus, for a net profit of $11. Good reminder that variance can take place over 1000 hands, not just 100.

Aequitas58 04-29-05 12:54 AM

Good for you.

Try out COMPBONUS now that you're done w/ BONUSAPR. :) This time, It'll only be 500 raked hands. (If you're getting the max bonus, that is.)

GeoffM 04-29-05 08:25 AM

Well, I've managed to drop $50 in 2 days :( .

1 day can be attributed to connection problems, last night can be attributed to a 6 pack and tilt  .

But no days off for me, gonna win my shit back this weekend and then some.

Intertops here I come.

BrianSwa 12-08-05 11:09 AM

another one

im trying to find threads on variance for Rook to show her that even good players lose alot.

bumpie bumpie

rookette22 12-08-05 11:16 AM

Problem is I'm not a good player, not yet anyway, but I'll get there some day I hope.

TY for leading me here; if that's what your goal was you've achieved it :)

BrianSwa 12-08-05 11:18 AM

read them

variance is a big part of the game and one thing you have to understand to become a good player. The way you talked about your QQ losing last night I understand that you dont understand variance.

bankroll managment and variance is very important things almost as important if not more then the cards.
