Question about "M"

In terms of SNG/MTT tournament play, how does one calculate "M" and interpret it? All help appreciated!

I THINK.............

M=the amount it will cost to play one orbit; so 1bb+1sb+antes.

It is easy to see what an orbit will cost, simply look at the size of the pot after blinds/antes have been posted.

So if you have 10K and blinds/antes=1K then you have an M of 10.

I think they say that you need to start pushing if you get in the M of 4-5 range.

I really need to read those damn books..................

M = your stack divided by amount of chips in preflop (blinds + antes). So if 1300 in preflop and you have 2600 in chips you have an M of 2.

Not sure what this has to do with alcoholic binges though.

Yeah, Firefox's auto spell check fails even my horrible spelling.

Stack/(Blinds + antes)

Then, when final table gets short:

Effective M = M * #players left/#players at full table.

For interpretation, I Yield to the HoH series.
