Michael Imperioli... and it premiered on January 30th.

I liked it. Thought he looked NOTHING like Ungar, but the story was good and I liked the way they told the story. As a fledgling player, it's good to learn more of the history.

Thought it was pretty good also. I actually liked the stuff from when he was a kid the best.

I just watched it, it was below my expectations. I anticipated that it would be mainly focused on poker. I was disappointed to find that much of the movie had nothing to do with poker and was all about how fucked up this guy's life was. A decent story i guess, just not what I was expecting.

Now I'm really fucking pissed...I post on this site to remind myself it's coming on, set a reminder on the TV, and still miss it...

Out on DVD

High Roller was available at my local Hollywood Video used for $12.

I'm a huge Sopranos fan, so I was expecting to love it. Instead, it came across to me as a poor man's Leaving Las Vegas. Imperioli did a decent job overall, but it just wasn't that compelling. And as usual, the poker shown was both too brief and unrealistic. Thumbs down.
