WTF how in God's name did he do that? Did he explain his thinking/read on this guy?

Talking Poker 03-01-07 01:42 AM

Holy shit! I don't go broke on this hand exactly never.

Honestly, I don't know how he can put villain on EXACTLY AT when Ax (x being ANY other card, not just 9 and lower) makes sense too. I have to think that you get paid off by AQ/AJ/etc with a river raise more often than villain has exactly AT.

The more I think about it, the more I don't like this "call." In a tourney, I'd be REALLY impressed, but in a cash game, I think this is an error. It sure looks cool though.

GTDawg 03-01-07 01:44 AM

Good as in the right one in this given situation. There's no way that's the right play the other 999 times you play this hand.

Boobie Lover 03-01-07 02:04 AM

Should have went broke, but didn't.

JDMcNugent7 03-01-07 02:53 AM

boobies play and call is awesome, vos's is horrible.

sjay2k 03-01-07 12:22 PM

this logic is faulty.

X-Longshot-X 03-01-07 02:05 PM

IMO, in the hand with Vos, if the guy with AT didn't check the turn then vos woulda gone broke. It makes sense with a preflop call and a flop bet that vos might be behind. there is NO reason for this guy to check the turn unless he is sure he is ahead and is trying to disguise his hand. I think vos realized what was going on and just called. I go broke here every time, but i think vos smelled something fishy and was right.

Talking Poker 03-01-07 02:13 PM

Well, of course he smelled something fishy and was right, but that doesn't make his play the correct play.

sjay - you need to get Mark posting over here from time to time. This seems like a good place to start.

GTDawg 03-01-07 04:07 PM

How is that logic faulty?

The man has the second nut hand and the only hand that beats him is exactly AT.

You are playing it improperly if you continually put your opponent on AT and check/call the river.

Sure, it may be right in this situation (we can't know his read or what may have told him to only call). But, I think you are playing bad poker if you check/call the river with aces over nines boat.
