Get PAID for Talking Poker!

Hello and welcome to the TalkingPoker.com Forums.

I created this board for a few reasons, but mostly because the other places that I look for poker discussion are being ruined by a bunch of idiots begging for money, spamming their sites, and/or flooding the board with bonus offers and whatever their latest scam is. It's not even worth my time to sift through all the crap posted on RGP any more.

I hope these forums become extremely popular with thousands and thousands of poker enthusiasts, but to help get things started, I've come up with a plan. For a limited time (at least through 12/31/04, and quite possibly longer), I am going to PAY you to post here. Here's how it works:

1. You get $5 just for creating an account.
2. You earn 10 cents for every post you make.
3. After you make 200 posts, send me a Private Message with your account name, and I'll deposit $25 in it for you ($5 + 200 x .10).*

That's all there is to it! Then keep posting away and keep racking up those 10 cents. When you hit your 500th post, you'll receive another $30 and when you hit Post #1000, I'll deposit another 50 bucks into your account. That's a potential $105 of completely free money, just for "Talking Poker."

All posts you make will count towards your total - All I ask is that you don't post a bunch of garbage solely for the sake of inflating your post count. If it looks like that's what you're doing, or if people start to complain about you, you're not going to get paid. I'm not going to scam anyone here, but you need to earn your money. Make quality posts, and you'll get paid.

You are under no obligation to play with the money I deposit into your account. You are free to cash it out immediately if you chose to do so. If you don't have a Party Poker account, you can create one here:

(Yes, my afiliate link is included there - hopefully I'll get a few new players through this to help cover the expenses I'm about to incur).

Happy posting!

-----
*Edit - It turns out Party has a minimum transfer amount of $50, but we still have plenty of options:

1. We can wait until you hit 500 posts and transfer the money ($55) to your Party account then.

2. I can deposit the $25 into your account. If you don't have one yet, I can give you a special link to use to sign up and also give you an added bonus - even more free $$ for you.

3. This is the best option, so I saved it for last. If you open a NEW account through my links (), make a real money deposit of at least $100, and then play a minimim of 250 raked hands, I'll pay you double what I owe you ($50 instead of $25) once I confirm you met the above requiements. And to top it off, will give you a 25% bonus on your deposit as well!

1st page, site looks good

WhiskeyRun 10-14-04 04:51 AM

Good luck. I'm always looking for informative poker discussions.
I've played on 40 or so different poker sites and am always looking for
new ones to try.

Penguinfan 10-14-04 04:38 PM

So will this actually be a moderated forum or will people just be allowed to run amuck and wait for a chance to flame anyone and everyone like RPG?
Good luck
Penguinfan

Aequitas58 10-15-04 12:00 AM

It's a private forum. Obviously, it's moderated.

Talking Poker 10-15-04 12:10 AM

It's moderated, but I think I'd like to keep it as censor-free as possible. If people want to argue, so be it, but unless they are arguing about poker strategy, it belongs in the Off Topic section. I won't delete that sort of thing, but I will move it to where it belongs so people looking for poker discussion don't have to wade through tons of garbage to find quality threads. Hopefully I won't have to.

Penguinfan 10-15-04 01:19 PM

Thats more or less what I meant, just hate to be part of a board where people sit around and jam the refresh button looking for someone to argue with.
Thanks and good luck with the forum.

Talking Poker 10-18-04 11:21 PM

hehe... welcome aboard - glad to have you!

Charlie Frank 10-19-04 12:03 PM

This $0.10 per post thing is just enough to get me hooked, but not enough to allow me to talk poker all day and night. It's perfect.

I hope this forum is successful. RGP is out of control.

I hope soo too!

Suggestion

You should have a referral system.

I understand referral systems are the way of the future. You should get on the bandwagon.

I'm thinking a one-level referral system where the referrer gets 1 cent for every post made by the referree.

I have a lot of friends and, to be honest, I will probably get around to telling them about this forum eventually, but a referral system will make me tell them a lot sooner.

Think about it - 2+2 will be creamed if you have a referral system.

You can thank me later ;)

This sounds like a great idea, I hope this turns into a actual "poker" forum.

Talking Poker 10-20-04 02:56 AM

Funny you posted this, because I actually had this idea. I wasn't going to pay a referral per post, but rather a flat fee for each new member referred ($1 or $2 or something). Two problems with this:

1. People could sign up tons of useless accounts that never contribute anything (this is a proble with the pay per signup method).
2. This would be WAY too hard to track (the multi-tiered pay per post method).

It's a good idea, but it's just not going to happen. I hope you refer a bunch of friends here anyway. So far, I'm happy with the success of the forum. People are actually TALKING POKER, and seem to be really enjoying it.

bigjohnstud2o 10-20-04 04:18 AM

i think im going to like this

im tired of the useless posts at RGP. Look forward to posting and reading posts here

bothecorgi 10-20-04 07:27 PM

Nice Job

This looks like a good forum to actually discuss poker. I got very tired of RGP and all the OT discussions and personal attacks.

BlibbityBlabbity 10-21-04 06:28 PM

:) Looks like a great forum, hope it catches on.

Aequitas58 10-21-04 07:01 PM

Well, instead of reading useless posts on RGP, you can read useless posts here as people try to up their post count to reach the threshold for free money.

Jackass is a perfect example. :)

Tilter 10-22-04 03:21 AM

Sweet deal. Im all in for this :)

brokeagain 10-22-04 09:35 AM

is there a post counter somewhere so i can keep track?

Talking Poker 10-22-04 12:26 PM

Yup... at the top of every post. Next to where it says "Posts:"

Imagine that!

GeoffM 10-22-04 01:47 PM

This is, without a doubt, one of the best things I have ever heard about. The site is superb, the offer is royally generous, and hopefully the posts will be insightful.

Tuff Luck 10-22-04 04:27 PM

I like this a lot, and I hope it works out great. :)

TajaUk 10-22-04 07:55 PM
