ESPN's Tilt ... What do you think?

If you frequent RGP, then you know there is alot of discussion (or should I say shit-talk) on this show. Have you seen it? What do you think? I don't like it for many reasons...

I'm a sucker for anything related to poker, but this show is way too glamorous compared to how things really are. First of all, there's too much talk at the table. This doesn't happen in real life. No - I don't play 100/200 NL, but I have watched a number of games with professionals in them, and besides random banter, the players don't talk like they do in this show...

The acting is terrible. If you've seen the show, then you know exactly what I mean.

The Matador. What?

I'll probably still watch it, like I said, it's a poker show, but some of this just makes you laugh out loud.

I've seen only the first episode (has there been another yet), and while I didn't love it, I thought it was watchable. It exceeded my admittedly low expectations. Certainly beats watching the celebrities play, which I just can't stand any more.

lol the show makes me laugh... I love how the players have all these quotes and stuff. This doesnt happen in real life! lol

Also I love how the 12 yr old girl takes down all that money in that big game... thats realistic!

i have seen both episodes, and while it certainly isnt fantastic, it is good enough to watch.

the players are over the top, and everything has to be extreme, but in general i think it is a reasonable show. i only have two complaints really. the first is the ridiculous hands that people end up winning with. 10-6o, 43s, 64o, etc, etc. they could at least make it look like a better reflection of the game. although, this could just inspire a whole new wave of fishies to play the game that way.

my second complaint is the emphasis they give to ego in the show. eddie and clark are just over the top, and if i ever got played by a woman like miami plays the guy in the pot limit game, i would stop playing. if there are 30/60 blind pot limit games out there where some of the players cant handle getting hit on, i just hope that i can reach that level some day.

i think that the show is entertaining, but if i miss an episode i wont be too upset about it.

dont worry you wont miss a episode unless you live under a rock for a week since ESPN reruns the show about 25 times during the next week.

dude.... jennifer harmann..... DUHHHHHH

yeah the show is ridiculous, but watchable... the only good part is michael madson, cuz hes fuckin bad ass.... the rest is just bleh...

omahilo 01-25-05 10:04 AM

yeah he sounds like Miami John, which is cool.

I d/led the first episode and watched after reading all the online bashing... To be honest I didn't mind it so much. Probably the 3 things I dislike the most are the acting, much of the dialogue (just seems too mechanical--- the words), and the casino boss (can't take him seriously). But yeah after watching it I was looking forward to the next episode.

Time to start d/ling it.

Cheers,

Gutzz
