joe torie

who thinks he will be assisting bobby cox in atlanta next year if he gets fired ? bobby has already declared next year his last year, it wouldnt suprise me if they brought him back to atlanta to take over after bobby retires next year. maybe alittle far fetched but its possible.

lol this thread owns. Don't they talk about firing him every year?

Kurn 10-09-07 08:23 AM

Except his contract is up this year.

FWIW, anyone who thinks "good clubhouse guys" is overrated needs only to look at the Yankees. Their run in the late 90's had as much to do with the clubhouse presense of Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez, and Scott Brosius, as it did with payroll. Those three left and the team had no rudder.

Still, Torre gets the short end here. Upper management lets the pitching staff get old and buys position players at or past the peak of their productivity and then complains when the team underperforms.

The only thing that worries me as a Red Sox fan is that every team that gets rid of A-Rod gets better the next year. :D
