B&M overseas

Qustion for TajaUk, which I think might be interesting for us all. What are your local cards rooms like? What limits are played? Have you played in the States for comparison?

Anybody else played outside of the US?

River Rock Casino

I've played at the River Rock Casino in Richmond, BC, Canada .. near Vancouver

Biggest poker room in Canada, 20 tables at capacity, usually operating 14-17 tables though. Pretty funny and friendly dealers, lots of beginners at the 2/4 table where I play.. good atmosphere, pretty talkative unless you get at a 2/4 table full of sharks (which I was at once but almost immediately switched to a more fun table)

At 2/4, the rake is 10% up to $3, and a bad beat fee of $1 for every pot over $20. Think this rake (and $1 tip) is beatable or is it too high?

What games do they offer there? I'm planning on moving to richmond after christmas and would like to know where to play in the vancouver area.Oh yeah what kind of tourneys are out there also. :D

It is pretty high. Whether it is beatable or not would depend on the average size of pots. If the average pot size is over $20, then it is probably beatable. Under $20, it would be pretty tough.

Right now I'm overseas in the UK studying but as I remember River Rock in Richmond had...

Limit HE: 2/4 4/8 ... up to 30/60 or 50/100
NL HE: Usually one table, believe the blinds are 3/6, min 100 max 200 buy-in
Omaha Hi: 4/8, if there's demand

Tourneys I haven't heard much about, but from what I know they have about 1 NLHE tourney a month, $40 buy-in, fast blinds. Now that they are part of the Canadian Poker Tour we should see a few big tourneys and maybe better organized small ones.

I haven't been to the other B&Ms but there's a few other Great Canadian's around, and maybe a few smaller ones with poker rooms.

Where are you moving from?

I'm in Regina right now we have weekly $25NL tourneys on saturday and on tues a rotation of 7 stud\omaha hi\low,limit\NL tourneys. There is also 3 big tourneys a year which are usually 5 days long each with various games played. The poker room has a usual 5\10 10\20 limit holdem daily.

I tend not to play cash tables, just normally a $20 buyin No limit Holdem Tourny, with unlimted Re-buyins for the 1st hour. There are 3-4 casinos around Leeds (Yorkshire, North England), all do similar things, twice a week 10-50$ buyin tournys with around 50-100 people playing.

Although Leeds has nearly 1 million people like most cities in the Uk they don't tend to have poker casino's where cash tables operate. The Vic in London is the main one here, which attracts all the top players from Europe, alas it seems London is the place to be or Dublin (apart from one or two others plotted around the Uk).

Gambling in the Uk has always been way behind the US. A bill is going thru at the moment that will allow alot of casino places to open up and I believe operate cash table scenerio's.

If you really wanted to know details search for the vic poker London or ask on the Hendon Mob forum *Link below. I am sure someone will help,
